Bipolar(controlled -lamictal, carbamazepine), anxiety-semi-under control (lorazepam, temazepam, cymbalta) and ADD problematic- considering Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) ?
So much medication: It might be necessary to take some drugs but I question the risks already and adding the new one is especially bad w/ cymbalta (duloxetine). It can cause severe anxiety! Also serotonin syndrome. Almost all of your meds combine to cause a host of symptoms like dizziness, confusion and general impairment. Please consider a good psych eval and adding good psychotherapy to lower need for Rx and help them work! ...Read more

Racing thoughts: If the racing thoughts are from bipolar disorder, Depakote is probably the best. Keppra (levetiracetam) has been studied in bipolar depression, but the results have not been so good. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21034692 Lexapro and Celexa are both antidepressants which could worsen bipolar disorder if given by themselves without a mood stabilizer like depakote. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Do any of these drug combinations work? Prozac abilify, (aripiprazole) Prozac zyprexa, wellbutrin zyprexa, for schizophrenia.
Useful: Studies show SSRI's such as Celexa (citalopram) and Zoloft (sertraline) are effective with 70% of OCD patients. Venlafaxine (a SNRI) has been found to help in some cases of nonresponse to SSRIs. When possible, a combination of medication and effective psychological treatment is desirable. However, pharmacological treatment is often more accessible and is a cost efficient approach. ...Read more
For panic disorder w/ agoraphobia & gad. Currently take xanax (alprazolam). Cannot tolerate ssris, gabbapentin or lamotragine. Is there anything else?
Yes: Yes, for medications there are still tricyclics like Pamelor (nortriptyline) and desipramine; also maoi's. There is always psychotherapy, a cornerstone of treatment for the conditions you're suffering. Plus i've found helpful results with classical homeopathy, especially when people are very sensitive to pharmaceuticals. Acupuncture offers promise also. All of these require well-trained practitioners. ...Read more

Schizophrenia without antipsychotics. Alternative approach to psychosis? Gaba? B3? 5htp? Omega3? Dosage?
Alternatives: No responsible physician can make recommendations like you're requesting on the internet, without seeing you and evaluating your situation. Schizophrenia is a serious illness, and you deserve effective treatment with a good doctor. There are psychiatrists who know about nutrition, and who integrate different types of treatment. See http://www.Inimh.Org/ and http://www.Holisticboard.Org/. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Take cymbalta (duloxetine) 60, lamictal 100, tegretol 600, klonopin 2.5 for OCD and mood..Is this a safe combination..And is 60 the usual dose for cymbalta (duloxetine)?
Seems fine: These dosages seem to be workable although it is an intense combination of mood stabilizers. The dose of duloxetine at 60 mg is at the usual amount for the treatment of a mood disorder although higher dosages are thought to be potentially helpful for the treatment of chronic pain. Stay safe! ...Read more
Bipolar 2 disorder. Extreme anxiety bad sleep cycles. On wellbutrin, topamax, abilify, (aripiprazole) clozazepam , temazepam , zopliclone ? What now?
Options: There are other options for your bipolar 2 condition. Wellbutrin won't help anxiety, and may stimulate it in some. Topomax is not a particularly robust mood stabilizer, but does work for some (apparently not you?). Seroquel may help this, anxiety, and your sleep issues. Latuda (lurasidone) is another option. Hoping you're working with a psychiatrist as you try these various medications -- psychotherapy too! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
