Need more info: Usually there is itching and/or discharge but not always.usually one dose of diflucan clears theyeast infection within a couple of days unless currently still taking antibiotics or other reasons. ...Read more

I was given diflucan (fluconazole) for yeast infection, eblven though I have a strong BV odor. Is my dr correct?

It depends.: Sometimes women have both problems together. If a culture was done that showed yeast forms than the treatment will help. If not, I would ask for metrogel vaginal cream to use for 5 nights or Flagyl instead. I agree that it isn't good to take an oral antifungal without proof of fungal infection. Itching and a thick white discharge would be more consistent with Candida. ...Read more
