I'm on 10 mgs of Buspar (buspirone) three times daily and was just prescibed diflucan 200 mg for yeast infection. I read there are interactions when taken togethe?
Did you tell Dr?: ALWAYS remind your Dr to check for safety w/ existting Rx's when they add a new one. They can be too busy to do it perfectly. Anyway, it's not too late to call to ask. There are risks in combo but not life threatening. Drowsy, generally unwell, stomach, mood, aches, etc. Best to avoid, but for a few days may be necessary. Ask Dr as soon as possible for specific advice. Best! ...Read more

Alternate treatment: Probably you are referring to a genital infeciton, i.e. vaginal yeast infection. A few percent of them are resistant to all "azole" drugs. Ask your doctor about alternate treatments like caspofungin, nystatin, or flucytosine. You may need to see an infectious diseases specialist or a gyn who specializes in infections. What medication should I suggest to the doctor to clear my lungs from the black mold? I took diflucan (fluconazole) for 30 days already & it's coming back thanks
Fungal lung problem: We need to know if it invasive infection, unlikely, vs colonization, is it blastomycosis or aspergillosis, itraconazole rather than diflucan, (fluconazole) or even more potent medicines would be needed to treat blastomycosis, aspergillosis on the other hand is a colonization not infection, and treatment is mainly by steroids, you need an Infectious disease specialist together with an allergist / pulmonologist ...Read more

Why isn't diflucan (fluconazole) over-the-counter? Why are some medication OTC and some precription only? What goes into fda making a decision to go OTC?
Side effects: The main reason medications are prescription vs over the counter concerns the side effects of the medication. What's the best medication to treat yeast infections that a doctor can prescibe? Excluding diflucan (fluconazole)
I have a yeast infection and my doctor prescribed me a generic brand of diflucan (fluconazole). Can I drink wine while taking this medication? The wine is 5% alch.
Not a great idea: Wine or alcohol is metabolized through the liver, and fluconazole also depends on the liver for processing. You don't want to over do it, so the professional advice here is to abstain. You want to get better and get this infection over with, rather than cause some other problems like liver damage. Sorry but that's the truth as I see it. Call your doc if you have other major concerns. ...Read more

I hadc thick white discharge, I used diflucan (fluconazole) abnd that didn't work. I used a three day prescription a fail. I'm usein Monistat it burns. What's wrong?
Maybe infection: Generally, thick, white, clumpy discharge is consistet with yeast and should respond to over-the-counter antifungal meds. Since this has not worked, I would recommend a trip to your physician's office. Occassionally, other infections can be present. Your doctor will make the diagnoses and treat you. ...Read more

Have had 2 weeks of 200mg twice daily of diflucan (fluconazole) for oral thrush and it didn't wk. What can I do to get rid of this?
Resistance /other: You are taking rather adequate dose of the medication and if it is not responding one of the two things are happening. I am confident, you will get the solution. Good luck! ...Read more

A yeast infection is: Commonly in women and refers to a yeast overgrowth in the vagina. If you are referring to a fungal infection in the groin, you would treat that with a topical agent like Lotrimen which would have no bearing on QT issues. Oral agents would not be indicated and ZPack is for bacteria not fungus. You need to see a health care provider for an accurate diagnosis and treatment. ...Read more

Monitor with EKGs: To help make a more educated decision, request an EKG from your physician to look at your baseline QT/QTc interval first.
