You strained a: muscle in your neck. It probably hurt when you changed position suddenly. Or you popped a vertebral disc, but that is very unusual unless you have had significant trauma to the neck in the past. Either way if it doesn't get better with ibuprofen and some massage, and if it primarily hurts right in the middle of the neck spine, then you need to go get some MRI at the ER. ...Read more
