Different Types Of Probiotics For Body Odor
Which probiotic is best for reducing body odor? Eating yogurt, chlorophyll tablets, less meat & more fruits & vegetables has not made any difference.
Oils: The oils we eat are exuded through the pores. Did you ever notice a garlicky smell after a meal with garlic? You can try to look at the oily foods you eat to see if adjusting them helps. However, anti-antiperspirant with Aluminum Chloride seems to be the most effective anti-antiperspirant which helps reduce body odor. Finally, daily soap and water of the areas with apocrine glands is essential ...Read more
Probiotics, by definition, are beneficial bacteria that live in our intestinal tract to help us maintain health intestines and colon. There are several species of these bacteria that are helpful to us including lactobacillus acidophilus. The meats we eat contain antibiotics that kill our natural bacteria that reside in our gut. Today, you will replace these ...Read more
I have a bad body odor since 8 years ago even after shower. I have try acv, chlorophyll, probiotic, magnesium, zinc, put on baking soda, lemon. Pls help?
Do others notice?: Is it "fishy"? Certain genetic conditions can cause this. You should see a doctor if you have not already. You're doing all the right things already. If no one else notices it (ask your mother), then may not be worth worrying about. ...Read more
33yr old healthy male; suddenly has delusions, anxiety, short temperament, unsightly body odor, memory loss. Could probiotics supplements cause this?
NO!: I can't imagine any way that probiotics could cause these symptoms. We all have about 100 trillion bacteria in our intestines- adding a few billion friendly bacteria to this has minimal effect;it might help eliminate unfriendly microbes, which is only beneficial. There are many potential causes of your problems-nutrient deficiencies, toxic exposures, food allergies, infections, thyroid- see a good doc! ...Read more

Body odor: The food eaten in various cultures is what mostly has an impact on the personal incense released into the air through our eccrine glands. That's why Indian body odor can have notes of curry, etc. Using a Detox may be a 'Bandaid" only and until you address your dietary intake of possible offending foods you eat, the problem will persist. No magic answers here, Best wishes to you. ...Read more
Constipated after finishing antibiotics. Will Azo Cranberry (with bacillus coagulans) help, or do I need a different type of probiotic for intestines?
Could swollen/painful lymph nodes be a Hashimoto's flare after antibiotic treatment? Swelling developed along different parts of body 3 days before end of treatment, probiotics were not being taken.
Dr. Bennett; What type of malignancy did you have in mind, that causes (different than before) body odor under one armpit, please?
None: There is NO malignancy that would cause an odor in only one armpit. Odors here are from bacteria that live on the skin, mixing with sweat from the glands surrounding the hairs. The sweat odor can be affected by emotion, but not in only one pit! Keep very clean, wipe the pits with alcohol if you like, let dry then follow with a good deodorant containing aluminum chlorhydrate. Good luck! ...Read more
60 yrs old my vagina is raw and bleeding from inserting (1) ultra 25 probiotic capsule gor fishy odor?
Ouch!: That sounds painful. You may want to talk to dr and treat possible BV with oral Metronidazole given how tender vagina is. You can also try probiotic orally. Cream for vulva & vagina may be warranted. Need an exam to make sure no lesion as cause of bleeding, barring that, try some desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) on vulva (not in vagina) if vulva raw. Otherwise, maybe dr. Will give you some estrogen cream to help heal. ...Read more
Is it safe to take the probiotics once a day pills if I think I may have a yeast infection? Will they help with the odor from it?
I just used a vaginal wipe and the discharge was yellow. I believe there is an odor too. Would probiotics help at all? (2 doses of diflucan (fluconazole) already).
Lactobacillus: From yogurt, milk, some probiotics have it. It sounds like it might be time for a visit and check of the discharge. ...Read more
I have CHF & started taking a 5 strain probiotic, since then my urine has a strong odor & comes on suddenly & intensly. Is this an ok side effect?
Urgency: I am not aware of probiotics causing such bladder urgency. The latter is more apt to be due to a bladder infection, diuretics often prescribed in CHF patients, excess caffeine, huge fluid load or simply overactive bladder syndrome. You could temporarily discontinue the probiotic to determine whether it causes urine odor or bladder urgency. Otherwise discuss this problem with your physician. ...Read more

Probiotics helping: I'm not sure if these two symptoms are related or not. Certainly, improvements in vaginal discharge/yeast infection are often seen with the use of probiotics and improvement in gut flora. It is surprising how often we see bowel symptoms linked to the menstrual cycle probably as a result of hormonal influences on smooth muscle in the bowel and uterus. Not sure why probiotics would help spotting. ...Read more
I am trying to choose the best probiotics. Are the best ones the refrigerated types or are the non refrigerated better quality.
They come both ways: Depending on the strain & formulation variables will deermine whether the branded probiotics need refrigeration or not. Many do not. If the bacterial strain is fragile, then the bottle/box will say it needs to be refrigerated. It doesn't mean it's inferior in quality if so. Different strains have different requirements to keep it alive to reach the intended site in the gut unharmed by stomach acid. ...Read more
Yes: While probiotics are the living bacteria that normally reside in our gut, prebiotics are the foods they eat. Prebiotics mostly come from carbohydrate fibers called oligosaccharides. You don't digest them, so the oligosaccharides remain in the digestive tract where they stimulate the growth of beneficial bacteria. Sources of oligosaccharides include fruits, legumes, and whole grains. ...Read more
Should be OK: One recommendation for dosing probiotics is to take them three to four times daily, with the total daily dose between 1 billion to 10 billion cfu (medscape). It seems many studies were done with lactobacillus, but other strains have also shown to be helpful either alone or in combination with each other. ...Read more
What is the best recommendation for probiotics? I've been to the health food store & there's so many different ones!
Few Clinical Trials: No good answers; trial ; error ; no well designed large clinical trials for specific benefits vs harm in adults to guide selection, such as with prescription agents. Plus the dshea act of 1994 applies. Ok places to start: http://nccam. Nih. Gov/health/probiotics/introduction. Htm; http://cid. Oxfordjournals. I heard that probiotics taken daily have not been proven to be very useful (body attacks them as not its own flora). True?
ProbioticsPrebiotics: It's not easy to alter intestinal flora (bacteria) with probiotics alone. Even probiotic (healthy bacteria) have to eat. Your diet, environmental exposure, antibiotic usage can all alter your "microbiome." there is some evidence that even "dead" or expired probiotic formulations are helpful. Horizontal gene transfer (swapping of genes between bacteria) can still occur, thus conferring benefit. ...Read more

Strong objective evidence for the effectiveness of probiotics is lacking. These are not likely to do harm and you may take these if it makes to feel better. You may consult this site for more information on this topic:

Probiotics for BV:
Oral probiotics will not help prevent BV because there is no way for them to travel from you intestinal tract to your genital tract. I suggest that you let your own vaginal micro-organisms establish their natural equilibrium, i.e no douching. For more information go here:

Hi Doctors, Is it correct that consuming probiotics makes our body not to produce good bacteria? Thanks.
Not even close:
Making the laughable assumptions that probiotics have living bacteria in them, that they somehow get through the stomach acid into the colon.
1) the body doesn't make bacteria. Bacteria sit on the outside. On skin, in colon, any place they can get to.
2) probiotics are by definition good bacteria. If it's bad bacteria then it's called "food poisoning". ...Read more
