Please advise if it's bad to take zyrtec-d every day?

No: Zyrtec (cetirizine) d contains an antihistamine (zyrtec) which helps itching, sneezing and drippy nose and a decongestant (sudafed) which helps stuffiness. Zyrtec (cetirizine) can cause drowsiness in some people. Sudafed can cause stimulation side effects like tremor, nervousness, insomnia, increased pulse rate and increased blood pressure. Hi docs, do you think it's bad to take zyrtec-d every day?

It Can Be: Zyrtec (cetirizine) D contains Cetirizine and pseudoephedrine. Pseudoephedrine can cause increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, insomnia, anxiety, dry mouth etc. I usually do not use it in patients for more than a few days in a row. ...Read more

Zyrtec-d (10 mg) makes it hard for me to sleep. Is it okay to cut one in half?

Nope.: It's not scored because it is a sustained-release product. "Do not crush, chew or break". Just take cetirizine alone and supplement with a low-dose decongestant if needed during the day (pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine) if you feel stuffed up. ...Read more

Can I take Zyrtec-D and NyQuil cough together?

Can I take Zyrtec-D and NyQuil cough together?

ZyrtecD+Nyquil Cough: I would recommend that you NOT take these medications together at the same time because doing so will be like taking 5 drugs at the same time. Take the Nyquil Cough before going to bed. If needed, you can take the Zyrtec (cetirizine) D once daily as needed in the morning. Reserve the Nyquil for just before bedtime.
If you have diabetes or high blood pressure, check with your doctor first. ...Read more

Too tired to drive. I've been looking at allegra-d and zyrtec-d. Which one would you recommend?

Too tired to drive. I've been looking at allegra-d and zyrtec-d. Which one would you recommend?

Allegra (fexofenadine) 180 mg: Zyrtec may cause drowsiness. Allegra (fexofenadine) does not cross into the brain and should not cause drowsiness. The "d" component is a decongestant and may cause insomnia, decreased appetite, high blood pressure and in men — urinary difficulties due to prostate issues so I do not prefer the Allegra (fexofenadine)-D products. Visit my website at www.Kleinallergy. Com for more info. ...Read more

I am 18w pregnant. Taking zyrtec-d daily whole pregnancy. Now I read it's not good. Doc told me it was fine. Is my baby ok?!?

Zyrtec (cetirizine): I do use zyrtec in pregnancy, but typically avoid zyrtec d. I prefer zyrtec over Claritin (loratadine) as well. You might want to use regular zyrtec. ...Read more

Can Zyrtec be used as prophylactic therapy like Claritin (loratadine)? I never respond well to claritin (loratadine). I feel it doesn't prevent much and I wind up on Zyrtec d.

Can Zyrtec be used as prophylactic therapy like Claritin (loratadine)? I never respond well to claritin (loratadine). I feel it doesn't prevent much and I wind up on Zyrtec d.

Yes: It is not prophylactic, rather controller, but you used Zyrtec d, which has a decongestant, that's maybe why you felt the difference, which I believe would be the same if you used Claritin (loratadine) D, at any rate different drugs work differently with different people, ...Read more

Can I take Zanaflex (tizanidine) and zyrtec d together? Treating a sinus headache.

Can I take Zanaflex (tizanidine) and zyrtec d together? Treating a sinus headache.

Not appropriate use: Zanaflex (tizanidine) is a muscle relaxer (http://www.drugs.com/zanaflex.html) so it's not intended for use in treating sinus headaches. Moreover, use of Zanaflex (tizanidine) w/ZyrtecD (antihistamine w/decongestant) runs risk of drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, difficulty concentrating, and impairment in thinking and judgment. You didn't ask but definitely don't recommend concomitant alcohol. http://goo.gl/w30maz ...Read more

Can I take Zanaflex (tizanidine) and zyrtec d together? Took zyrtrec for my allergies but would like to also take my muscle relaxer.

Can I take Zanaflex (tizanidine) and zyrtec d together? Took zyrtrec for my allergies but would like to also take my muscle relaxer.

Better not: If taken together can cause CNS depression and psychomotor impairment, zanaflex (tizanidine) has a short half-life 2.5 hours, so it can stay in your system for 5 hours or longer, zyrtec has a half-life of 9 hours, so it can stay for about 18 hours, drop one untill you talk to your doctor about an alternative, spacing them out, or dose reduction, good that you asked, always exercise caution with multiple meds ...Read more
