Difference Between Weight And Height Percentile
My 11 mon old girl has a circumference of only 43cms.she is hitting all her milestones.she is 32 percentile ( weight )& 95(height).shld I b concerned?
No: There is also a weight for height graph that can tell if the child weighs more than he should for his height. But a child could be -for example-25% height and 50% weight and still fall within normal guidelines. Kids tend to change rapidly mad may get heavier just before a growth spurt, . If the doctor says your child is overweight please take it seriously. Work on exercise ; eating habits. ...Read more
See pediatrician...: With the numbers you gave, your son is about 97% for weight and 3rd% for height. I would advise that you discuss with his pediatrician to ensure that he is growing on target for his normal and to discuss a healthy toddler lifestyle (nutrition choices, drink consumption, screen time, and activity) ...Read more
What to do if I'm 17 yrs old and my height and weight are 2nd percentile, does not it mean I have growth stunt ?
My baby is in 75% percentile height and 25percentile weight.6 month old boy.17 lb at and 27.5 inch height.is it normal?
Tough word - normal: Being thin and tall is perfectly fine if the child is growing along their growth curves normally. Make sure your pediatrician or FP doctor is measuring height and weight and plotting them on a growth curve. If the baby odd changing percentiles over time, you may need to intervene with nutritional or medical help. Check with your doctor on this ! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
2 month old dropped from 87th-95th percentile for height to 15th. Has remained 50th percentile for weight, why such a drop in height?
Measurement error: Length in infants is a difficult measurement to replicate. Baby's length is dependent upon how tense/relaxed he is. Think how he pulls his legs up when he cries. If 1st length was while asleep and 2nd while awake and resisting, he'll appear shorter. Staff may fail to fully stretch legs, head may move from starting point. Discuss with dr, but unlikely to be a concern. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My nephew is in the 2nd percentile for height at one year but always been short.42nd percentile for weight.Could he have a growth issue?dwarfism?
Genetic Height?: The key here is his parents heights. Take the average of his parents height, and add 2 for a boy. Where does this fall? Is it at the low end? Another factor is both parents puberty patterns. Were they late bloomers? This can be another cause. Should be evaluated at his one year checkup! ...Read more
My 9 month old son's weight and height is in the 18th percentile but his head is in the 67th. Should i be concerned that his head is so much larger?
Yes & no: The most common reason for a big head size is it is inherited as a dominant trait from a parent. If your kids developmental progress is normal & the head has always been on the large side i'd just watch it. If the head is growing faster than the body & increased from lower to higher percentiles i'd have a study done. ...Read more
My 18mo son is always on the lower end of percentiles, except head circumference. Is this an indication of his future height and weight?
Hard to say: The best predictor of how a male is growing and where they will end up is their parents. Final height is expected to be the average height of the parents plus 2.5 inches. Body frame and muscularity also tracks as a blend of both parents, with more features contributed by the parent of the same sex.Since I do not have any details, the answer must remain very general. ...Read more
I'm 20yr old boy.weight 63kg and height 5'5".I'm going gym sice July.I ate 2.5lbs of universal fast gain 3100 supplement.but no difference.help me?
Healthy food...: Learning healthy habits - nutrient rich whole foods, lean proteins, small amounts of healthy fats (avocado, coconut oil), small regular meals (5-6 per day), regular exercise (cardiovascular and strength training) - is best for you. I would recommend against artificial/chemical supplements to gain weight. Your BMI is in the healthy range now, if you are looking to gain muscle that takes time ...Read more

Our 8 yr old is 35th percentile for height, 3rd percent for weight, and overall healthy. Should we restrict junk food intake or let her eat anything?
Junk food?: No medical professional in his/her right mind is going to recommend junk food... If both (parents) are on the small side, children are likely to be so as well. It is a plus that she can eat anything because of her body size, but i would increase nutritious foods before allowing junk food---which is ok once in awhile. Best of all, check with your doc who has been seeing your child over the years. ...Read more
17 wk old niece head circumference is on 99th percentile.50th percentile for height and weight. Is this a problem? Her mother has quite a large head.
Probably fine: It's fine for an infant to have a large head, as long as it stays at a fairly constant percentile. It's only when heads grow or shrink too quickly that the child should be evaluated further. Make sure to talk with ur baby's pediatrician if u r concerned. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
