Difference Between Hydromorphone And Oxymorphone
Semi synthetic: Oxymorphone is a semi synthetic form of morphine. Comes in immediate and extended release formulas and used for chronic pain. Hydromorphone is a deritive of morphine as well but works best in IV form. Oral formulations do exist but are not reliably effective due to how they are broken down in body. Both are narcotics and controlled substances that can cause respiratory depression, use caution.
No: It is not considered stronger but is still abused
How do people get dilaudid and oxycotin and numorphan (oxymorphone) so easily when they are celebs?
Like Everything Else: They buy it illegally or they get a doctor to write them a prescription. Some perfomers actually do have legitimate pain problems but the lifestyle sometimes leads to other complications and addictions. When you have $$$ $, you can always find those willing to oblige with whatever.See 1 more doctor answer
What do you suggest if I'm currently taking 180 mg of oxyneo and want to switch to hydromorphone for pain.?
Why??: Oxyneo is an effort to provide adequate amounts of the needed pain drug (oxycodone) in a form that is resistant to abuse, both by crushing and snorting, and by smoking. If you want to switch, I wonder what you are trying to get from the medication. You need to talk to your prescriber about your issues, and consider whether there is now an underlying addiction developing. Dilaudid is highly abusable.
Both: Short acting and more potent opiates are more addictive. Hydromorphone /dialudid is highly potent particularly when given in injection form hence more addictive. It is not by no means to say ocycontin is less addictive or safe. In the world of addiction, ocycontin is more abused and is source of problem owing to its wide spread availability either by prescription or licitly.See 1 more doctor answer
Mixing drugs: No! The fda recently lowered the maximum recommended dose of Ambien (zolpidem) for females. Maximum for males is 10mg. Mixing meds can be a deadly combination. You may benefit from a physician that specializes in pain management and u may be a candidate for a sleep study to get to the root of your problems. Good luck but don't play dr. ; mix medications without your professional's awareness; permissio.See 1 more doctor answer
If doc prescribes: Yes, but only if you do not have sleep apnea without CPAP coverage and only if you are already used to the hydro -morphone. Follow your doctors directions. There will be combined but not compounded sedation with these two. No drinking of course. Night light for middle of the night pee trips is advisable. Make sure there is nothing on the floor you can trip over. Take care.See 1 more doctor answer
What complications can one expect from injecting the crushed beadss from a hydromorphone contin capsule?
How long on average does hydromorphone stay in the system? Is it in any other medications, or will another medication lead to a false positive
Drug screen: Drug screen can stay positive up to 6 weeks with hydromorphone.
Neither: Those are close to what most tables would consider equipotency, where hydromorphone is about 3 times more potent than oxycodone. However, there is a huge amount of individual variation in what the equivalent potencies are in different people, as well as in the potential side effects of the different opioids. You should be asking your physician or pharmacist these questions.
