Fats from animal products contain these molecules which are made of three fat chains attached to a molecule called glycerol. They circulate in the blood stream and are used as building blocks and repair materials by your cells. Too many of them can contribute to plaque build ...Read more
42, normal weight, very good diet, yet, very high triglycerides (245.) Cholesterol 172. On beta block's for fast HR. How can i bring trigs down?
Complex case: Beta blockers are known to predispose one to diabetes, which can result in elevated triglycerides. I recommend trying to change to a calcium channel blocker to control your rapid heart rate. Metformin, 500 mg 3 times daily, and Acarbose 100 mg three times daily (with meals) will lower your triglycerides. Let me know how you do. ...Read more
Low carb diet ok for high triglycerides? Taking triglyde. Triglyceride levels on meds is 350, LDL is 201, HDL 28, on meds. Is any fat ok? I exercise.
Low carbohydrate: A weight-reducing and low carbohydrate diet (cut anything white by at least 50%) should have a dramatic effect. Cut alcohol to no more than 1 small drink per day. Increase exercise to 45 minutes a day. All of these should help a lot. A few meds may increase triglycerides (like Accutane and estrogen). If all else fails, fish oil in high doses is very effective. Good luck! ...Read more
Which diet i take in high triglyceride level 244, low density lipoprotein 90, sgpt 117 and HDL 42 , glomerular filtration rate 60plz help me?
Depends on trigs: It depends on how high the tg are. Diabetes will often cause modestly elevated triglycerides, and controlling the glucose will lower tg. The most important part of diet is weight loss. If tg are very high, eg. Over 1000, then you need to do the same, but you may have to limit dietary fat, which causes gut-derived lipoproteins (chylomicrons) to elevate. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My HDL and triglycerides are very normal, but i have very High LDL what could be the reason? diet is minimal and not fatty,,I'm thin and have crohn's
Probably genetic: We talk little about the genetic component to LDL problems but they're actually a bigger factor than diet and exercise -- we simply can't do anything about them. And much of the traditional "wisdom" about diet and cholesterol probably isn't even true. Stay fit and be ready to accept medication should your physician and perhaps a second opinion consider it right for you. ...Read more
