Diet For Perforated Colon
Had perforated colon. 5 inches descending colon removed. Do I still need to follow a diet for diverticulosis?
Eat well...: It's never too late to start eating well. At 45 with a history of diverticulitis, i'd recommend a broad diet with adequate fibre, and try to lower your fat content. It wouldn't hurt to add a cheap bulk laxative. You don't need to avoid seeds or salads, though I do suggest you limit your intake of nuts and popcorn - not an absolute moratorium, just not a daily diet. Good luck. ...Read more

Would someone feel pain when a colon is perforated or can it be a painless and unidentifiable injury?
Would you know if you perforated toddlers colon by taking rectal temp? Is it hard to do? I took his temp yesterday. He said "ow" and cried.
Yes: Within hours the kid would be deathly ill as germs entered the area and an infection. It is exceedingly difficult to perforate the colon taking a temperature. I can't remember hearing or reading of a case ever in 3 decades. A little petroleum jelly on the thermometer helps it slide in easier. ...Read more

Can many months of cdif & tx make your colon more likely to perforate from colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy after its cured (test ok & no sx)?
Depends: An inflamed colon is at higher risk of complications during colonoscopy as it tends to be thicker, more blood flow, and less flexible. If your colon has recovered from for C difficle colitis then your risk is back to normal. If you have been chronically ill and you are malnourished as a result you will have a slightly increased risk as well as a decreased ability to recover from a complication. ...Read more

Long story short, I need a colonoscopy and I heard that colon cleanses can cause your bowel to perforate. Is that true?
Can be dangerous but the preps used for colonoscopies are safe and very low risk when used as instructed by your endoscopist.
Otc colon cleanses are a hype and taking advantage of gullible patients and pose potential of damage to the cells lining your colon. Best way to keep colon clear is to eat a healthy high fiber doet, drink 80-100 ounces of caffeine/alcohol free fluid daily and save your mone. ...Read more

Went to dr today. Did an X-ray of my colon and confirmed that I was constipated. Had there been any perforation or anything would they have seen it?
It depends: It depends on what kind of X-ray, and what kind of perforation. If an upright or decubitus X-ray was done, free intra peritoneal air can be seen. If it was only a supine X-ray, it would be difficult to see. A walled off or micro perforation, or a retro peritoneal perforation, would also be very difficult to diagnose on standard X-ray. ...Read more
Partially yes: The staging information is generally favorable. The T3 (liothyronine) means that this tumor was involving the bowel wall but not the surrounding organs and this may have contributed to the perforation during the dissection. My advise is when you see an oncologist, make sure to point out this information. Even though you are node negative, the oncologist may be more willing to recommend chemotherapy to be safer. ...Read more

A year ago I felt bowel perforation symptoms for 2 days after using anal toys. My irksome bowels beg the question: did I really hurt my colon or anus?
?? Perforation??: If you had bowel perforation that went untreated you would not survive! If you scratched/scraped/cut some of the inner surfaces in your rectal area it obviously healed to some degree but may have left some scarred tissue. If you cut the muscles within the anus, it could cause a stricture or a difficult to close outlet. A simple rectal exam by your doc could provide better info & help you improve. ...Read more
