Diet for high amonia levels?

Lactulose: Dietary ammonia comes from metabolism of protein; reducing the total protein in your diet may help, but there is the counter problem of needing protein to actually make things the body needs. The best management for ammonia is to be compliant with lactulose to eliminate it from the gut. ...Read more

Low creatinine serum, high creatinine clearance and normal urine cret at age 21. Totally sedentary lifestyle with high protein diet. What's thr prob?

Kidney problem?: With the information you provided, I do not think you have a problem with your kidneys. Creatinine is an indication of your kidney function and, just as important, is gives an estimation of your muscle mass. A high creatinine clearance may be seen with uncontrolled diabetes, which you do not have. Speak to the physician who ordered these tests on you for more information, he knows you best. ...Read more

Low fat low carb ketogenic diet for person with high bilirubin?

Let's talk: If your only finding on chemical profile is a consistently high indirect bilirubin and you feel fine, you almost certainly have gilbert's and this is a non-problem that you should not try to address. If consistently high indirect, dubin-johnson is likely, same advice. If you have high bilirubin from an identified or unidentified illness, get with your physician before you try this diet. ...Read more

Vegetarian high protein diet for tuberculosis and my sugar is on borderline and having high blood pressure?

Choose your options: Talk with your physician about whether being a vegetarian is the best choice for someone as seriously sick as yourself, and whether perhaps you might at least take dairy / whey protein and/or eggs. Losing weight through exercise and healthier eating and taking meds, but total cholesterol, non-hdl cholesterol, bilirubin, and creatinine levels high?

How high?: Slight elevation in creatinine may be due to increased muscle mass, dehydration, increased protein intake, but should be evaluated by your doctor. Is taking high protein140g/day low carb <150g diet safe?140pd male doing strenuous workouts for health&vanity.

Unsafe, unwise: I believe most extreme diets are unhealthy and unwise and this is a good example. I advise limiting protein to about 70 grams a day. Higher amounts puts stress on the kidneys, can cause osteoporosis and may reduce longevity- esp. if the main source is animal protein. I believe it's not wise to limit all carbs- but it is wise to limit sugars and starches. See http://tinyurl.com/hqxta7c and comment. ...Read more

What is the best resource for a low-fat, low-sugar, low carbohydrate, high protein vegan diet?

Very limited: Food is a combo of protein, carb, fat. Low sugar-easy. Low fat-easy, low carb-easy, high protein and vegan with all the other restrictions-really hard. Most vegan sources of protein e.G beans, tofu, tempeh, seitan, nuts, seeds, have fair amounts of the other nutrients as well. The more restricted a diet, the greater the chances for imbalance (old insight-hippocrates wrote it). ...Read more

Recommended food for high tg, LDL and low HDL patients?

Back to basics: Thanks for your data! numbers all look pretty good. Tg is only mildly elevated and would respond best to low calorie diet with focus on reducing high glycemic index foods and fructose. Tg may come down, but I am not sure there is great benefit to that. Real focus of treatment is LDL but that is great. Eat plenty of fish. Regular aerobic exercise. Maintain healthy weight. ...Read more
