What is the role of diet and exercise in controlling diabetes?

What is the role of diet and exercise in controlling diabetes?

What is the role of diet and exercise in controlling hypertension?

A diet high is fruit and vegetables and low in sweets will also decrease BP. Exercise is advised, but I know of no studies showing an effect except in aiding weight loss, which also helps. Can a type 2 diabetic have a hypoglycemic episode if they are not on any diabetic medication. Only controlling by diet and exercise?

Can a type 2 diabetic have a hypoglycemic episode if they are not on any diabetic medication. Only controlling by diet and exercise?

Resoundingly yes: B"sd very commonly, in fact the most common cause of hypoglycemia is "reactive" or post eating hypoglycemia and is a classice occurence in patients with dm2 or prediabetes. It is felt to occur because of rapid rise of blood sugar with eating but delayed release of insulin that then results in hypoglycemia since the food is gone. Glad to discuss in detail. Lifestyle only likely not best for you ...Read more

Is diet or exercise better to lost weight?

I would do both: I usually suggest a combination of mild diet modification by cutting out the junk food. I believe that a regular exercise regimen 3-5 times a week will gradually help you lose weight and eat healthier. If you are consistent, you will gradually increase your intensity and frequency. You must make lifetime changes not expect rapid short time goals which will not be maintained longterm. ...Read more

I diet and exercise but the scale remains the same, why?

Frustrating: You simply cannot exercise enough to do the job. Exercise is good but 1 scoop of ice cream can take an hour to work off. To lose weight, you simply must eat less calorie dense foods and eat less food in general. It's harsh but true. Drinking lots of water helps.
