Is there a specific diet to control liquid stools resulting from a hemicolectomy?

Is there a specific diet to control liquid stools resulting from a hemicolectomy?

BRAT diet: The banana rice apple (sauce) toast (brat) diet may temporarily increase the consistency of your stools as well as the use of some medications to decrease motility. However, I am confident that your surgeon may have these readily available. In many instances the resorption capacity of your remaining colon will compensate over time as well. ...Read more

Fed my baby rotten avocado. Worried about mold poisoning. What should I do? Has been having more frequent smelly well formed or liquid stools.

Prob low risk: Mold will not cause food poisoning in an otherwise healthy baby, but spoiled foods do pose a risk for bacterial food poisoning. If the baby appears ill, has blood in stool, a fever, or intractable vomiting, see the pediatrician. Without those symptoms, observation is adequate. Importantly, check food for spoilage before serving- don't give "iffy" foods! ...Read more

What to do if I have duchenne muscular dystrophy and have had constipation since 9 days but with soft liquid stools passing?

What to do if I have duchenne muscular dystrophy and have had constipation since 9 days but with soft liquid stools passing?

Unfortunately......: You probably need to be disempacted. After nine days you probably have a bowel impaction and some of the liquid is able to get past the main blockage. Use of a stool softener and good hydration can sometimes prevent this. Use of a strong enema or laxatives should only be done under medical supervision in this situation. ...Read more

Yellow liquid stools after eating.
Happening for a month on and off. Mucus present if stool is formed. R/T IBS or something more serious???

Mucus on stool: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, & even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum. At the very least stool studies & probably a sigmoidoscopy should be considered, but a more extensive evaluation may be warranted. ...Read more

Clear liquid diet 4d how long b4 bowels r cleaned out. Still passing stools small thin & mushy...Cld that be from old trapped stuff hx: diverticulitis?

Old food: 4 days of a clear liquid diet results in no residual non absorbable products in small intestine. When this liquid material is partially absorbed in the 12 or more feet of colon which contains suface colonocyte cells and bacterial, it comes out as you describe as small thin and mushy.
