Nothing special: Your weight seems spot on. No special diet or exercise needed. You may have some skin overlap of the scar, as the scar initially contracts. This will improve over 9-12 months. You have no activity restrictions this far out. Good luck.

Like all life on planet humans are open systems which keep tearing down their structure & require intake of atoms/molecules from which to rebuild their structure. What to do if I have a mini-laparotomy?

Surgery: This is still a surgical procedure and requires anesthesia and accordingly you will need to have a preoperative history and physical examination as well as certain laboratory testing. An anesthesiologist may meet with you a day or two before surgery. Make sure you have a good bowel movement before going to the hospital and eat or drink nothing after midnight before surgery, get good night's sleep

How long does it take for a mini laparotomy to heal?

How long does it take for a mini laparotomy to heal?

Weeks: Surgical healing depends upon what was done (what was removed) and how it was done (size of incision). Knowing only 1/2 of this, I can generalize and say that most people with a 2-3" abdominal incision will need narcotic pain medicine for less than a week, return to work in 2-3 weeks, and be 100% in~6 wks. Of course, the true expert to answer this question is your surgeon. I hope this helps.

How should a 5 day post-op laparotomy look?

More information pls: Was the wound closed primarily? Are there staples? Is there drainage from the wound? Is it red? Do you have fever? These are the main things I look for in post-op laparotomy wounds. If you have concern, call your surgeon.

What are the chances I will need a laparotomy and not a laparoscop?

Depends: It depends on the skill of your surgeon and the concern over the possibility of cancer which relates to your age etc. In our hands, in young patients with "big" cysts up to say 12 cm or so, we would almost always approach with laparoscopy unless a malignancy is strongly suspected. This would be rare in the young age groups. Depends on the planned surgery and the indication.
