Limited options: Besides the addition of something like Tylenol (acetaminophen) there isn't much out there, as "stacked" nonsteroidals start to have significant adverse effects. If you are interested in alternative options, there is some evolving data about tart charries and anti-inflammatory effect - the data is real but very nascent. Abscess?: For the purpose of this interaction, I'm assuming, by "flu symptoms" you mean fever, chills, fatigue etc. In my experience, recurring sore throat and "flu symptoms" could indicate an abscess which are kept under control, but not completely eradicated, by antibiotics.
