Diclofenac and Aleve (naproxen): Dear Jessi: Diclofenac is in the NSAIDs class of anti-inflammtory drugs and Aleve (Naproxen) is also a NSAID. The risk for side effects with NSAIDs is high, such as stomach ulcers. I discourage patients from taking more than 1 type of NSAID together as side effects can be serious even if you don't have stomach pain. There are other effects, such as kidney and liver problems with NSAIDs. Nisha ...Read more

Naproxen v Voltaren (diclofenac): That's like asking if Batman is better than Superman! Both Naproxen & Voltaren (diclofenac) are NSAIDs. For that matter, so is Ibuprofen. It's just that Naproxen & Ibuprofen are available w/o prescription in States whereas Voltaren (diclofenac) requires prescription. Because they're all NSAIDs, they function exactly the same. For each drug, risk & benefit varies depending upon dose. In the end, only you can decide which 4u ...Read more

The medications you mention do not have reports of problems in combo, so just use as directed and notice anything you don't like. I hope you heal well. See Dr if worsens or lasts too long (weeks). ...Read more
As good as any: There are at least a dozen antiinflammatory meds on the market. Naproxen is effective but not for everyone. The reason there are so many medications is because not one is uniquely superior to the others. One person will "swear" by Naproxen while another says it "does nothing for me". ...Read more
As far as NSAIDs?: Naproxen in a recent danish study proved safer for the heart than all other non steroidal ant-inflammatory drugs, even compared to placebo. It will replace some of my other go to drugs. But there are caveats. It can irritate the stomach. It does negate aspirins cardio-protection. It can cause a decrement in renal function in some patients! ...Read more
