Alprazolam is a short acting benzodiazepine, it does not last long in the system . So in anxiety clinics, we use it only in cases of " flight , dentist or other infrequent anxieties, ...Read more
YES: Taking 2 benzodiazepines at the same time is not wise because of additive sedation. It's possible to have interdose withdrawal symptoms with the xanax, (alprazolam) and valium is much longer acting but may not always cover this. Your "jitteriness" could also be coming from lexapro, but only you and your doctor know your progress on that.See 1 more doctor answer

Doubtful relation: Your question seems to be based on 1 study from arizona based on survey of people with night time heartburn. However in this study there were so many factors mixed that a definite co-relation is not proven. What is however certain that if you are prone to have hyper-acidity, many many foods and medications can trigger it. If any one does get heart burn at day or night should be treated for it.
1mg klonopin makes me feel down at times. Is Xanax (alprazolam) XR or diazepam a better long acting benzo? I've tried Xanax (alprazolam) before & never felt like this. Switch?
Talk to your dr : You may to switch meds, add one or drop one. Your psychiatrist can decide what to do based on your history. Are you exercising, eating regularly and drinking enough water.
My father is 69 he has drunk alcohol taken 4mg Xanax (alprazolam) 60 mg diazepam and 500 mg of diclofenac - what should I do help please !
Medical help: I suggest you take him to a medical facility. If you know of one dealing with mood altering chemicals start there.
Safe: It is safe to do this under the supervision of a physician. The medicines above are termed benzodiazepines - the problem with taking medicines like this is that your body builds up tolerance to them over time. Only take these medicines when you really need them, long term use is generally not a good idea.
Just got my lyrica (pregabalin) bumped up 50mg + 30mg of diazepam (instead of xanax) is it normal to feel sleepy, dizzy and just "off" bad coordination, lethargy..
Benzodiazepines: The medications that you have listed are benzodiazepines and used to treat anxiety, panic disorders, seizures, and are sedatives. These medications vary in the onset of action, side effects and all can be habit forming. The best medication is the one that best fits the patients clinical problem.
No: You should not mix these two medications. Take one or the other in order to avoid adverse reactions. They are both sedating. Take care!
Xanax/Klonopin: Don't mix the two. Ask your prescribing doctor on advise as to which one to continue with.See 1 more doctor answer
Better not to take: Diazepam has rapid onset of action, but it has a very long half life, from 1-3 days. Diazepam at a dosage of 5mg. Can cause significant problems with alertness and motor functioning, eg. Driving a motor vehicle. Taking a sleep medication, 5 hrs after taking diazepam, may lead to significant CNS depression and problems with coordination and balance. Yes: Yes, you may safely use them together. If you have not yet found out why you have on swallowing, please see an ENT if it is in the back of the throat if it is in your food pipe, then see a gastroenterologist for further work-up.
Nothing is safe when: 'transferring' from one anti anxiety medication to another. You can't do it without a narcotic prescription from your doctor or psychiatrist. So if your Tranxene (clorazepate) isn't working, call your doctor and take their recommendation first. You may need to be seen for a consult, before anything is switched. May be better to deal with the cause of your anxiety as a better alternative. Good luck!
Yes but.....: these are questions you should be asking the prescribing physician and/or the dispensing pharmacist, who knows all your meds and has an opportunity to ask you more questions and give you more guidance. This is a low dose of Celexa, and a very modest dose of Xanax, (alprazolam) which should be a temporary fix until the Celexa gets to a therapeutic dose. Your physician and pharmacist should be your advisors.
Mo: You have to take a much higher dose and then stop it quickly to have withdrawal sz including seizures
Is it safe to take .5mg of Xanax (alprazolam) while on 25mg of atenolol?would it drop my BP too much?
No problems: Atenolol and xanax (alprazolam) may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. Because xanax (alprazolam) has a quick onset, and atenolol slower, there is no problem for you to take them together. Always ask your doctor before taking any new medicines.See 3 more doctor answers
