Once a week for the past 4 weeks I have been hit with severe nausea, stomach cramps, sulpher burps, vomiting and horrible diarrhea. Symptoms last 4-6 hrs than go away for about 6-7 days. Any clues?

Lifestyle?: Keep a food log and see if there is something you are eating or drinking unusually or in large amounts for the day or two before the episode. Are the episodes always occurring the same day? What are you doing or anticipating doing at that time? Yes!: Effexor (venlafaxine) has a short half-life and really needs to be taken every 24 hours (the xr form); or twice a day (the immediate release form). When you don't, you may have serotonin discontinuation symptoms: nausea, abd. Cramping, diarrhea, headache, balance or gait problems, sore joints or muscles, irritability. These symptoms go away within a couple of hours of taking the next dose. ...Read more
