Food after sickness: This will vary, but usually start with clears. If okay advance to soft, mushy food (banana, rice, oatmeal) and as better move to a regular diet. 37 weeks pregnant just got diarrhea, already 2 1/2 CM dilated as of last week, is labor coming soon? If so how soon after diarrhea does labor start?

37 weeks pregnant just got diarrhea, already 2 1/2 CM dilated as of last week, is labor coming soon? If so how soon after diarrhea does labor start?

Unpredictable: There is no way to predict exactly how long it will be until labor, although all of these signs you mention suggest it may not be long. Call your doctor if you are contracting every 5 minutes, you think that you have started leaking amniotic fluid, or if you have vaginal bleeding. Also call if you have decreased fetal movement. Good luck! ...Read more

Was sick after action to Mexico (vomiting, diarrhea, chills, fever) and still have only diarrhea 3 weeks later, no solid passing of foods. Frustrated!

Was sick after action to Mexico (vomiting, diarrhea, chills, fever) and still have only diarrhea 3 weeks later, no solid passing of foods. Frustrated!

Get stool checked: Most cases of traveler's diarrhea clear up quickly after return. If you are still having symptoms after 3 weeks, there may be a more serious problem, or one that needs treatment. A stool analysis and culture, and a check for parasites (ameba) may be in order to identify the cause. A short course of antibiotics may also be worth it if you haven't had any yet. ...Read more

36 weeks pregnant, just took my last procardia (nifedipine) for preterm labor. When will i go into labor?

36 weeks pregnant, just took my last procardia (nifedipine) for preterm labor. When will i go into labor?

At sometime: You will not immediately go into labor. Most likely, you will deliver near your due date unless you are already more than 4cm dilated. Pericardial though often given, does little to stop early labor if it is "real". I wish i had more room to explain. ...Read more

11wks pregnant. 3 days of abdominal cramping from horrible diarrhea. Chills a lot of cramping. Can i take imodium (loperamide)?

Yes: Yes you can take Imodium (loperamide) as it is considered safe in pregnancy. Some word of caution. Make sure you don't have an infection that caused your diarrhea, as anti diarrhea meds can make the infection worse. Also take with caution because in pregnancy you can easily go from diarrhea to constipation. I recommend you see your OB to diagnose the cause of diarrhea. ...Read more

Luckily never before had any classic symptoms of period/PMS. experiencing today strong abdominal cramping & diarrhea (day before period).Unusual, why?

Luckily never before had any classic symptoms of period/PMS. experiencing today strong abdominal cramping & diarrhea (day before period).Unusual, why?

Not abnormal: The exact reasons why diarrhea occurs during your period aren't fully understood, but it is quite common and often tied to menstrual cramps. Believed to be at the root of the cause are prostaglandins, chemicals released during your period that allow the uterus, and thus the intestines, to contract. ...Read more

39weeks 1day pregnant, 3rd child. Thick white milky discharge today. Mucus plug? How long before labor starts? BH for days but no real contractions

39weeks 1day pregnant, 3rd child. Thick white milky discharge today. Mucus plug? How long before labor starts? BH for days but no real contractions

Irrelevant: unfortunately, just because you have a loss of your mucus plug, does it mean that you will go into labor. Your cervix is just beginning to change and making more mucus. Your cervix always make mucus even while you are in labor. Don't expect anything until you begin to have consistent contractions. Seems like you still have a whole week left, not to worry, good luck. ...Read more

Is it still viral gastroenteritis if diarrhea began BEFORE vomiting? Diarrhea for 3 hrs, then vomiting too, now just watery diarrhea. 27/F. Scared.

Is it still viral gastroenteritis if diarrhea began BEFORE vomiting? Diarrhea for 3 hrs, then vomiting too, now just watery diarrhea. 27/F. Scared.

Yes, can be viral: The order of diarrhea and vomiting doesn't predict whether what you have is viral since can present both ways. Should you have bloody diarrhea or fever over 102 F then would go to your doctor. More than likely you have viral gastroenteritis and will run its course over 3 to 5 days. Can try some peptobismol ...Read more

30 wks prego, cramps nd diarrhea with mucus ,I have hyperemesis gravidurm?

Unlikely: At 30 weeks, unless you have had these same symptoms the entire pregnancy that's not hyper emesis gravidarum. If this is new onset, I think it would be wise to be checked out right away. Dehydration in pregancy can lead to serious complications and even preterm labor. I suggest going into the emergency room or labor and delivery after you call OB. When you are pregnant you need to be extra careful ...Read more
