Can't tell.: No way to tell from the info. If there is truly blood then IBD must be a consideration, but plenty of people with IBS have blood related to constipation or hemorrhoids or another common cause. Best to see your doc for an exam. The real test is some sort of endoscopy with a direct look at the inside of your intestine and consideration of biopsy. ...Read more

Many causes : There are many causes of stomach cramps, Diarrhoea and blood in stools. If the culture was negative have the stool examined for parasites like Giardia, amoeba and repeat the culture if necessary also looking for campylobacter and other organisms. IBS: or IRRITABLE bowel syndrome is a "diagnosis of EXCLUSION" That means it is made after the colon is found CLEAR of any OTHER reasons for your symptoms (which are pretty "classical" for this diagnosis!!!! Tarry?: Blood in the stomach is cathartic (leads to diarrhea) but usually, turns the stool "tarry" in consistency. So, yes, a change to black liquid stool can be a sign of bleeding in the GI tract. Fatigue & nausea are also consistent. The bleeding may be sporadic (ie, slow bleed) but still cause these symptoms, so it behooves you to get checked out by a physician.
