After a week of the flu, I'm not better and have developed a New symptom: diarrhea. What can I do?
Question the flu dx: IF you really HAD the flu, it isn't causing your diarrhea now. Avoid caffeine, milk and fatty/fried/greasy foods. and eat bananas, steamed rice, apple sauce, lean protein and toast [a little jelly is okay, but no butter]. ...Read more
What is to be used for female child of age 2yrs having flu and sporadic diarrhea for the last 1 month?

Otherwise just let it run the course -usually 5-7days to get over influenza. Sporadic diarrhea of a 2 yr toddler , if otherwise still has good appetite and no weight loss is reassuring . Maybe sure you don't give her too much juice , that can cause loose bowl too. ...Read more

DEHYDRATION: The flu can last 3-14dys, but if diarrhea has developed and feverish persistent I would take him to the ER. Have labs checked and CXR to rule out secondary pneumonia. If the doctor gave him antibiotics he should also have stool checked for Cdiff. Better to be safe and have him get ER eval or rapid PCP visit. ...Read more

Why does 14 year old daughter always have to be hospitalized with flu for vomitting and diarrhea and has had it at least 15 times since age 3?
Not at first: When you first get "a stomach flu bug", your gut may protest it by trying to shut down altogether. In this stage you feel the nausea and vomiting, because stuff just does not want to go through. It's usually later that the body tries to "wash out the virus" by dumping more fluids in the gut to try and wash out the virus - and then boom, diarrhea. So early on you may not poop at all. ...Read more
