Alcohol Poisoning: Hi i cannot rule out alcohol poisoning from your description. You may need to re-hydrate, take your vitamins and eat some meals with good nutrition. Is it normal in the stomach flu to continue to have diarrhea for several days after the nausea subsides?
Eat a plain diet: Diarrhea can often outlast stomach symptoms when you have a viral gastroenteritis or stomach flu. As your body is clearing the virus, the virus moves down. 2yo vomited once during the morning.Didnt vomit for rest of day, no diarrhea/fever, complained of mild abdominal pain that went away soon after.virus?
Was sick after action to Mexico (vomiting, diarrhea, chills, fever) and still have only diarrhea 3 weeks later, no solid passing of foods. Frustrated!
Get stool checked: Most cases of traveler's diarrhea clear up quickly after return. If you are still having symptoms after 3 weeks, there may be a more serious problem, or one that needs treatment. A stool analysis and culture, and a check for parasites (ameba) may be in order to identify the cause. A short course of antibiotics may also be worth it if you haven't had any yet. ...Read more
Throwing up and diarrhea that last 24 hours but the virus was over last week and diarrhea and nausea again.
Been going through gastroenteritis the past few days. Taking Imodium, (loperamide) but most recent diarrhea had oily film on the surface. Is this part of sickness?
Seek treatment: i would get checked out. May need fluids or further testing. Stool appearance can be nonspecific. If oily film on surface may have problem with fat absorption. May need to see GI doc for evaluation. Need to stay hydrated even if need help by Iv fluids because you don't want to injure kidneys or get dizzy and pass out and hit head, etc. if stools float + oily, think about fat malabsorption. ...Read more
Had a 24 hour flu bug w/ diarrhea. Diarrhea went away for a day & i had normal stool. The day after the diarrhea returned. Is this normal for the flu?
Unlikely: Hi, usually the immunity the body generates from the bug that caused the diarrhea is what leads 2 recovery from the infection. So unless your immunity took a hit in 1 day or you got superinfected with another bug the diarrhoea does not recur. In most cases though after a bout of diarrhea pts develop transient lactose intolerance-which causes diarrhea. Avoid milk; dairy ;monitor.See pcp if no change. ...Read more

No: Whenever someone in your house is sick there's always a chance your baby may get sick too. But whether it's you, dad or a sibling who's sick, the best thing you can do to protect your baby is breastfeed. After exposure to a virus your body will make proteins that fight the virus. Those proteins pass into your breastmilk and protect your baby. So wash your hands well and keep on breastfeeding. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Why would gastroenteritis recur one week after complete recovery? Symptoms include cramping pain and watery diarrhea. I have been travelling in japan.
A Japanese bug...: Whenever one travels and eats in a foreign country, their are different types of bacteria, parasites and other organisms that reside normally in the residents of that land (colonization), but are foreign to foreigners. So 'trot' over to your gp, or a gastroenterologist or infectious disease doc. Tests for parasites like giardiasis, pathogenic e. Coli, tapeworm, will likely be done. Happy trails... ...Read more
Diarrhea stopped after 15 days of stomach virus still have no appetite and chills 2 days after diarrhea stopped and anxiety makes me think of cancer. ?
No cancer: When diarrhea is a sign of cancer of the bowel it is usually due to partial intestinal obstruction secondary to an existing neoplasm. For symptoms to subside can not be the result of an untreated cancer. Rule is that if cancer is not operated on it will grow on you. Allow the intestinal virus to subside over several wks. This has been a common symptom for many. ...Read more

DEHYDRATION: The flu can last 3-14dys, but if diarrhea has developed and feverish persistent I would take him to the ER. Have labs checked and CXR to rule out secondary pneumonia. If the doctor gave him antibiotics he should also have stool checked for Cdiff. Better to be safe and have him get ER eval or rapid PCP visit. ...Read more
