Will desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) (for baby's diaper rash) work on an adult rash?

Will desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) (for baby's diaper rash) work on an adult rash?

Open to air: The best remedy for diaper rash is to clean the area thoroughly and often. After cleaning air dry or fan with your hand or use a blow dryer on cool. Leave the diaper off when you can. Creams are basically a barrier and when using take care to dry the area off well before applying. Also some diaper rashes will require medicated cream. You may want to call your pediatrician.

What is the gentlest diaper rash cream?

What is the gentlest diaper rash cream?

Desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) + Maalox: My favorite gentle treatment for most diaper rashes is the mixture of desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) (zinc oxide paste) and maalox liquid. Put an inch of desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) cream (do not use the "creamy" type) in your palm. Add 1 capfull of maalox liquid to it and mix together for a few minutes. Then rub this thinned paste into the entire diaper area for 30 seconds. Do this with each diaper change.

Can you use diaper rash cream for a pad rash?

Can you use diaper rash cream for a pad rash?

Yes: May of the diaper rash creams contain zinc oxide, which can be helpful for the chaffing/irritation rash caused by pads. If however, the rash from the pads is from not irritation but actual allergy to the fibers of the pad, the diaper cream probably won't do much.

What is a good cream for a diaper rash on a baby?

What is a good cream for a diaper rash on a baby?

Rash: Depends on the cause if it is due to candida then Nystatin or Lotrimin will work really well but if is due to ammonical diaper rash than butt paste or Desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) works equally well and last but not the least if it is due to the elastic on the diaper changing the brand will help. The best thing to do is to switch to cloth diapers then you will never see diaper rashes

How can I easily soothe a baby's diaper rash with OTC creams?

How can I easily soothe a baby's diaper rash with OTC creams?

Find the right one: Sometimes you have to try a few different kinds to find one that works well for your baby. Desitin, (zinc oxide diaper cream) a & d ointment, zinc oxide paste, plain old vaseline, and others are possibilities. In nursing homes, products called barrier cream and butt frosting are used for similar problems of incontinent adults. These might be useful for a baby also.

My baby has a diaper rash won't go away, I tried plenty of creams!?

Resistant rash: Rashes caused from irritation from wetness, fragranced baby wipes or diaper allergies usually improve with use of over the counter barrier creams such as Desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream). If this rash is not improving, it may require a medicated cream to treat yeast.

Agree w Dr. Russo: For diaper rash keep baby's skin clean & dry. Change diaper as soon as it's soiled or wet. For healing allow baby to go without diaper for periods of time so affected area can air out. Avoid tight diapers or airtight covers over diaper. What's your opinion on what works better vasoline w/powder or white diaper rash cream?

What's your opinion on what works better vasoline w/powder or white diaper rash cream?

Diaper rash cream: There are many diaper creams on the market. An affordable one is triple paste. Your pediatrician might have samples. A pricier brand is mustela and there are 2 diaper rash creams in that line: vitamin barrier cream and stelactiv. In conjunction with a diaper cream, you should have more frequent diaper changes and use water only to clean the diaper area.

Can I use Fucidin cream 2% on diaper rash if it has open soars?

Can I use Fucidin cream 2% on diaper rash if it has open soars?

Not for fungus: Most diaper rashes are fungal in origin and fucidin cream is an antibiotic so it would not necessarily help the rash unless there was a bacterial component to it, irregardless of any open sores. If the open sores are infected, this cream can help and may also help prevent them from getting infected. Get the rash diagnosed to assure the best treatment if it persists. Good luck to you.
