Dialysis Polymer Purification
Depends on patient: In capable patients the peritoneal does not only provide for a better quality of life but also is safer. But in patients who are not likely to follow the rules well due to older age, dementia, poor manual dexterity etc, in-center dialysis is safer. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Simple answer is that it is a medical technology used primarily to provide an artificial replacement for lost kidney function in people with renal failure. Hemodialysis remove wastes and excess water from the blood by circulating blood outside the body through an external filter, called a dialyzer. Blood and dialysate flow through in opposite directions and the ...Read more
If tattoo ink is water insoluble, is the body able to safely excrete the pigment nanoparticles following laser removal treatment?
To peritoneal or not: Hemodialysis cleans your blood directly meaning, your blood is taken from you, ran thru a filteration system, then returned to you. On the other hand, peritoneal does it indirectly. The blood vessels in your abdomen are exposed to a very concentrated solution. By osmosis, the concentrated solution will leech out the excess fluids you normally pee out if your kidneys were working well. As the ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Baby 3 weeks, What water safe to use with powder formula? Bottled Spring water vs bottled purified water w/ minerals & fluoride. Don't like using tap.
Distilled: Distilled water would be ideal at this stage. Fluoride is not necessary until the teeth start to erupt. 'Drinking water' is from a municipal source ( tap water), nursery water is often priced higher and not necessarily superior to Distilled. Spring water quality is variable is quality and consistency. ...Read more
What is better, amo signature phacoemulsification system or bausch and lomb zyoptix 217z100 laser treatment ?
Different treatments: Unrelated question, phacoemulsification is done for cataract surgery and the b&l laser is for refractive laser surgery. One removes your crystalline lens that has a cataract and the other reshapes the cornea. So there is no comparison here. Both machines have had good results if done correctly as with other similar but different brands but for very different problems. ...Read more

Tubular acidosis question. Gfr improves consistently with b12 shot and bicarbonates (sodium bicarbonate). Nephrologists refer dialysis but crt 2.6 to 1.5 with bicarb. !?
Here are some...: Glad to see her acidosis has been improved from taking sodium bicarbonate. Known to us, dialysis is designed for fluid overload and/or electrolyte and acid-alkaline imbalance. Do nephrologists recommend dailysis now or refer for pre-dialysis assessment? So, ask her doctors for specifics and relevance for renal tubular acidosis, dialysis, etc. because online 400-letter does not suffice to address.. ...Read more
Safe to take lorazepam w/ nature made magnesium supplement(mag ox, cellulose gel, croscarmellose sodium, mag stearate, silicon dioxide, stearic acid)?
Safe but not best Mg: It is totally safe but magnesium oxide is a very poorly-absorbed form of magnesium- it may work as a laxative but won't raise your magnesium levels! you would be far better off taking magnesium glycinate, taurate or citrate! see http://drcarolyndean.Com/magnesium_miracle/. ...Read more
Is the ingredients mention below suitable for pregnant woman 1) Collagen peptide 2) perilla seed extract 3) silk protein 4) soy isolfavone?
Forget this stuff.: Take your prenatal vitamins, folic acid, calcium and Vit. D and nothing else. All of those products are poorly studied and there is very little responsible, independent testing to determine if they actually work or if they may have side effects, or harm fetuses. Also the companies have different ways of making up these pills. Save your money and spend it on plenty of fruits and veggies instead. ...Read more
Light amber: The PD fluid is normally clear and very light yellow (like a very diluted urine!). The most important thing is it should be clear (as opposed to turbid) . The best test of clarity of fluid is to place a piece of newspaper under the bag, you should be able to read it through, if not, it's called turbid and highly suspicious for infection! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
