Nope: Those are excellent numbers, even going to a little low. Diabetes is not a concern until your fasting glucose starts going over 100, and it isn't called diabetes until higher than that. A1c would also be much higher (6.5% or above is diabetes, 5.7-6.4% is increased risk, 4-5.6% is normal). Good luck! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Dad HbA1C=6.2 & FBS 90 at 21/1/2015,after a diabetic diet: HbA1C=6.0 & FBS=84 & glucose 2hrs post prondial=63 at 4/4/2015.Dad diabetic or prediabetic?
Depends: What your level should be depends on when you took it. The ideal for your sugar before you eat in the morning is about 90. 2 hours after meals should be less than 120 and one hour after a meal should be 130. If you are talking about the screening for gestational diabetes (a one hour glucose tolerance test) then cut off is 130-140 for normal. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

A1c: If Dad is not taking any insulin he is doing just fine. On the assumption that he is not taking and medicine for diabetes he is OK. If he is on medication for diabetes he should slow down his meds by 50%. PS: If anything, Dad is not a "diabetic". That is a silly term. In type 2 diabetes the theme is "I have diabetes" and the end result is "I am going to beat it!" ...Read more

Type 1 diabetic actively exercising & healthy eating looking for right lantus (insulin glargine) dose.
Lantus (insulin glargine) dose: Hi. I applaud you for your healthy lifestyle and dedication to tight diabetes control. Finding the right Lantus (insulin glargine) dose can be trickier than people think, especially for an active type 1. I was on Lantus (insulin glargine) for about 6 years before going on CGM in 2006. CGM is THE perfect way to find the right Lantus (insulin glargine) dose, but not everyone uses CGM yet. Do you? My guess is no, or you'd have dialed in the right Lant dose ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
