Is dht produced by masturbation? Or there is some other reason as well? How we can stop it without drugs to get better growth of hair?

Is dht produced by masturbation? Or there is some other reason as well? How we can stop it without drugs to get better growth of hair?

No worries: If masturbation (think of it as: sex without another person there) causes hormonal problems, then "sex with another person there" would cause the same hormonal problems. If one were to avoid masturbation (due to worries about losing hair), it would also mean avoiding "sex with another person" (as one should have the same worries in that situation). Thus, no worries. Live life. ...Read more

What foods increase and decrease DHT production?

Tobacco decreases: Dht production because blood flow testes, where Dht is produced, high cholesterol containing foods likely inhibit Dht production. Tofu and soy products can have an estrogen-like effect and decrease Dht production. Some shellfish like oysters & mussels may stimulate Dht production. What are DHT levels and how can I test the levels?

What are DHT levels and how can I test the levels?

Dihydrotestosterone: Dht is one of two metabolites of testosterone (estradiol is the other). You can easily check for both via simple blood draw. Reference ranges will vary depending upon lab & equipment used, therefore specific test ordered. High Dht is associated w/hair loss & enlarged prostate. We can lower Dht w/5ari, eg Finasteride & dutasteride, but might increase Estradiol (think seesaw effect). So check both. ...Read more

Can high DHT cause prostate problems?

Can high DHT cause prostate problems?

Yes: High Dht (dihydrotestosterone) is associated w/prostate enlargement (and hair loss). Medical solution is 5ari, eg Finasteride (proscar (finasteride) & propecia) or Dutasteride (avodart), which stops conversion of testosterone into dht. But Dht sits on other side of seesaw from e2 (estradiol) so lowering Dht might raise e2, leading to erectile dysfunction + loss of libido. So be very careful! ...Read more

What are side effects of DHT blockers?

Increase Estradiol: Testosterone is converted into both Dht (dihydrotestosterone) & e2 (estradiol). Think of these two as balanced on opposite ends of seesaw. If you block/decrease dht, you could potentially increase e2. Too much e2 in men leads to moobs (man boobs), nipple sensitivity, gynecomastia, loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, etc. ...Read more

Is DHT produced when you have an erection?

No: Dht (dihydrotestosterone) is produced by 5 Alpha reductase (5ari) converting testosterone. You can stop this from happening by using a 5 Alpha reductase inhibitor such as Finasteride or dutasteride. However, beware that testosterone is also converted into Estradiol (female hormone) so that if you keep it from going down one pathway, it might choose the other. ...Read more

Is there any way or something which helps to decrease the DHT level?

DHT: Hi AhmadK~ for reasons of patient safety I must discourage you from using abbreviations. I must here assume only (way too low a standard!) that you mean "dihydrotestosterone/or tachysterol". If so why would you as a MALE want to REDUCE this substance? If you ingested an excess of tachysterol I think the best way to reduce the levels in the blood, is gastric lavage in fhe acute phase and emetics. ...Read more

Free t and t bound to Albumin are biologically active (bioavailable) and is converted to Dht in various tissues throught the body. Why do you want to know this? ...Read more

Revivogen is a topical DHT blocker and is formulated to not be systemically absorbed so there are no "post fin" side effects. What's your opinion?

Not great: There is already data in regards to topical topical finasteride and topical fluridil, both of which are topical antiandrogens. The data isn't impressive at all. Remember, anything that can be absorbed into the skin can be absorbed into the body (systemically) though it doesn't mean that it happens in large quantities.
