What is IVF fertility treatment?

What is IVF fertility treatment?

Outside body: In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) means that fertilization occurs "outside the body" (in vitro). We stimulate the woman's ovaries to mature multiple eggs. We retrieve them in the office with the woman under anesthesia to allow us to suction the eggs with a needle. We combine the sperm with the eggs and culture the embryos. We transfer 1-3 embryos based on woman's age and embryo quality. ...Read more

How safe is progesterone tablets for pcos fertility treatment?

How safe is progesterone tablets for pcos fertility treatment?

Safe; sometimes used: Progesterone or artificial versions (progestins) can be safely used to induce a period for women with pcos who have very few periods (less than 4 a year) or no periods. It does not improve your chances of conceiving because it induces bleeding, not ovulation (egg release). Progesterone can also be given for low Progesterone levels in the 2nd half of a cycle, or to support an early pregnancy. ...Read more

Testosteron 3.23 ng/ml;free test.6.64 pg/ml;fsh 4.8 and LH 2.9 miu/ml. What treatment is best to follow?

Need Re-Assessment: Current testosterone assays across the country are not as reliable as we would like. Therefore we recommend doing testosterone levels at least 2-3 times in the morning and also using clinical tool to decide of you have low testosterone. Prolactin level has to be checked too. You need to see an endocrinologist. ...Read more

What is success of IVF with amh .45,
fsh 7.8, LH 5.6, and 7-9 follicles total at age 28?

Pregnancy: It is difficult to put a number for what your success may be. These tests also are not predictive of pregnancy rather your response to fertility treatment medications during ivf. Your chances may not be as high as someone your same age with normal ovarian reserve. However, your age places you at a high chance in general. Good luck. ...Read more

Is femara (letrozole) an effective infertility medication?

Is femara (letrozole) an effective infertility medication?

It can be: Letrozole (femara) is an anti-estrogen that tricks the brain (pituitary) into making more fsh which can increase the number of eggs produced in a cycle. It is not as effective as ivf or injectable medications and is usually used in women younger than age 40 for infertility. Is testosterone treatment for aging men comparable for hormone replacement therapy for menopausal women?

Yes: Having been in this situation, i can tell you that balancing out hormones in men is just as important as doing so for women. Men lose their sex drive, become Insulin resistant, lose their vitality. I'll post a page later that describes my own personal treatment success. I feel great at almost 52 years of age. ...Read more

What are the ovulation success rates on low (50iu) FSH injections in Clomid (clomiphene) resistance patients?

What are the ovulation success rates on low (50iu) FSH injections in Clomid (clomiphene) resistance patients?

Good rates, long tim: Fsh will usually stimulate the ovaries very well. The concern is that too many eggs will stimulate and that is why we use a low dose protocol when not doing ivf. The key is patience. It may take 3-4 weeks of injections before the ovulation will occur. If little effect the dose is increased. Sometimes too many eggs will become mature anyway and the cycle will need to be cancelled. ...Read more

Does Clomid (clomiphene) help progesterone levels for a pregnancy@?

Does Clomid (clomiphene) help progesterone levels for a pregnancy@?

Once the corpus: Luteum (maturing egg) starts producing estrogen/progesterone, it feedbacks to the hypothalamus and pituitary gland to inhibit gnrh/lh/fsh production. Clomid (clomiphene) selectively inhibits the estrogen receptor in the hypothalmus which 'tricks' the body to release more fsh, which inturn causes growth of more ovarian follicles, and subsequently rupture of follicles resulting in ovulation to increase fertility. ...Read more

6y no baby: I would say after 6y of trying that you should have IVF. IUI can be tried, but less likely to work. You state you have been pregnant before, but if you can't sustain pregnancy pregnancy due to uterine factors, then your only option may be surrogate. See a fertility specialist regarding all these possibilities. ...Read more

Got confused?: You are getting yourself confused. Clomid (clomiphene) is not an 'estro receptor' at all; it is mainly an estrogen receptor antagonist, but it has pro-estrogenic actions in some tissues and anti-estrogenic actions in others. Women on Clomiphene do mostly have an lh surge; not surging means the Clomiphene dose was likely too low. ...Read more

Fsh: 9.1 IU/L , LH : 5.72 IU/L ,testo total 9.7nprolactin : 245.7mIU/L

High prolactin: Elevated prolactin can indicate a pituitary tumor (benign) which can interfere with hormone production and sperm levels, in addition to small testicle size. Ask your healthcare provider to order a CT scan of your skull to rule out a pituitary tumor. There are medications which can treat this condition, not just surgery. With "zero" sperm, even IVF is not possible. ...Read more
