Hive & rash: you have urticaria or allergic dermatitis, it is best if you see your doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment, at the mean time try an antihistamine such as Zyrtec or Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) hydrocortisone cream, but you need to find out what you are allergic to. See below: Hives can be caused by anything under the sun (including the sun - solar hives). Therefore, determining the cause is very difficult. By definition, chronic hives is defined as occurring after 6 weeks of daily symptoms, but i refer at 3 weeks to dermatology or allergy. Likle hives: Hives are usually itchy red spots that comes and goes quickly. They can be caused by allergy, viral infections, and autoimmunity ( reacting to yourself). Antibiotics can cause a reaction as long as two weeks after stopping it and persist up to 6 months(recurrently). Foods reactions occur usually quickly after eating the food and clears in 24 hours. Don't know: Hives and swelling are common. With fever - can happen. Has this been happening for awhile? Does it itch? Do antihistamines (like benadryl) help? Test results? His case sounds unusual, but don't have enough details. Time to see a board certified allergist. ...Read more

The best way to prevent cold urticaria is to avoid sudden changes in temperature. Urticaria: It sounds like you're having a systemic allergic reaction. (hives, urticaria). If you've taken a new med, it is suspect. An insect bite can cause this. Beyond those 2, there is a long list of suspects that can take a long time to isolate. You will need professional help. There are treatments that will help you to feel better meanwhile.
