What can I buy from the pharmacy to help with Hidradenitis Suppurativa at home? I already use Dettol and Dial antibacterial soap but still get bumps.
Don't to it!: Antiseptics and soaps should never be used in the vagina. Never douche with anything: douching always is unhealthy, unnecessary for hygiene (the vagina is self-cleaning), and will not cure any infection or irritation. In fact, it often causes infections or makes them worse. See a doctor to learn the cause of irritation (maybe a yeast infection?). But do not douche with Dettol or anything else. ...Read more

BV? Trich? STD?: The main cause of strong vaginal odor, sometimes with discharge, isbacterial vaginosis, an overgrowth of bacteria. Trichomonas causes the same odor, and other STDs also are more common with BV. The treatment is different for each and Dettol won't work for any. Douching (with Dettol or anything else) can make it worse. Your topic tags show STDs are on your mind, so get tested. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Vagina is designed to keep itself clean ; normally contains lactobacilli (good bacteria) which tend to keep vagina infection free. Best to wash around vagina with unscented soap. Vaginal yeast, if present, can be treated with antifungals such as monistat, Gyne-Lotrimin or miconazole. Dettol will kill good bacteria. ...Read more
