Yes and no: Both these OCP have the same type estrogen and progestin hormone in them. The estrogen hormone does not cause acne. The progestin hormone may cause acne, depending on the type. The type in your daughters pill usually does not aggravate acne. I do not think there is really a better choice for her. ...Read more

There are many pills that have less estrogen which is better- less chance for estrogen related side effects. My number one pill I prescribe is loloestin, it only has 10 mcg estrogen which is safer and it has 24 active pills and then 2 estrogen pills so only 2 placebo pills, so you get lighter periods and less chance of a cys. ...Read more
