Ve been using desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) diaper rash cream on my face for my acne. Will the zinc help my skin?

Zinc: Zinc helps repair damaged tissue and heal wounds. There are some articles out there that suggest a zinc deficiency may contribute to acne issues. This of course is referring to dietary zinc deficiency. Zinc oxide topically is often used in sunscreens for its protective effect from the sun's harmful rays.I can't speak specifically about the use of Desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) for acne - but if it helps you then use it. ...Read more

See Your Doctor Now: Prolonged exposure to heat and moisture break down the skin barrier leading to rashes. The constant presence of urine/feces make healing the skin difficult. Thorough cleansing of skin each diaper change w/ mild soap/water, allowing skin to air dry fully, use of barrier creams usually works. However yeast infections require medicated creams. May be yeast: Babies can actually get yeast infections of their diaper area. It usually looks like beefy red bumps that are fairly close together, and they may be on a red patch of skin. At that point the only effective treatment is corticosteroids either orally (prednisone) or by injection. ...Read more
