Rupture is serious: Dermoids can have hair and teeth in them, so are complex on U/S,. The black stuff in the picture is hair. They often grow slowly but rarely rupture. If so, it's like appendicitis and needs immediate surgery. U/S is a good screen for ovarian masses, but with a "surgical pelvis" CT is done. Small septated cyst: Cysts that small are frequently part of normal ovulation. A cyst is simply a fluid filled sac on the ovary. The first thing recommended should be a pelvic ultrasound with doppler flow studies.The cyst can be a functional cyst with hemorragh (caused by the function of the ovary-ovulation),an endometrioma, a cystic teratoma or dermoid, or a cancer. Don't worry, but: whoa! Ovarian cysts aren't on tubes so you either have 2 ovarian cysts and one tubal (?), or 3 ovarian cysts. This is not to worry about by itself. Fluid in the pelvis? All people have small fluid, and all women have fluid around ovulation and around menstruation. Fluid doesn't automatically mean problems. Bad Pap goes with colposcopy but not the other issues.
