19y/o,female,virgin,single.I have an ovarian cyst.2010-present.My cyst are twins and the other one is dermoid cyst. Is operation necessary?

Recommend surgery

Cyst
Ovarian cystectomy (cyst removal) is suggested in order to make a definitive diagnosis, preserve ovarian tissue, and avoid potential problems such as torsion, rupture, or development of malignant components (cancer), which can happen in about 1% of cases.

Female,19y/o,single.I have an ovarian cyst. 2010 until present. They became twins and the other one is a dermoid cyst.Is it necessary to be removed?

Yes

If you have a dermoid cysts of the ovary, while it is not urgent, it should eventually be removed. It will continue to slowly grow over time and may be harder to save the ovary if it gets too big.

Dr. Jane Van Dis answered:

I'm five weeks pregnant. I had a scan today was told I have a dermoid cyst on my only ovary. How does this affect my pregnancy + should I be worried?

Very Common

Cyst
Dermoid cysts are very common in reproductive aged women. They are nearly always benign. If they aren't causing you pain, I bet your doctor will recommend waiting until sometime after pregnancy to consider removal. Surgery during pregnancy does occur, but only when absolutely necessary. The cyst will likely not affect the pregnancy in any way.

Dermoid cyst in my ovary, I forget how big it is. Doctor wants me to get it removed but the surgeon said no. I still have it. Pregnancy apossibility?

Abnormal ovarian cysts

Ovary
A dermoid cyst has a very distinct pattern seen by ultrasound. It is very important to know how large this is and how long it's been in place. Also if it is causing pain. Sometimes dermoid can be confused with endometriomas. The cyst can also be another type of tumor which may need to be addressed surgically.

18 year old dtr has a 3.4 cm rt ovarian dermoid cyst (MRI dx). First gyn will only salvage part of ovary if she does laparotomy. Second dr said laparoscopy- spillage not an issue. How to decide?

Third opinion

Mri
This is a small enough cyst that laparoscopy should be successful. U need to find out how many procedures they do laparoscopically - more the better. Also ask about complication rate. U have to b comfortable with ur surgeon and it doesn't sound like you r at this time. Having one more option might ease ur mind. Try to find someone who does lots of laparoscopy. Good luck

Clotting, irregular and longer period 4 months after cyst and ovary removal. Is this normal? Bright to very dark blood as well.

Common

Open-uri20131117-31094-1aksg52
Irregular periods are very common. Other than being annoying for you usually it is not a sign of something serious. Depending on your age and medical problems there are certain blood tests that can be done as well as a sonogram. Birth control pills can often regulate cycles. Woman who are done having children may consider an endometrial ablation. There is no relationship to surgery 4 mo ago

Does swelling cause weight gain after laparascopic surgery/ovary removal? The incision was made bigger to remove the cyst. 2 weeks and still swelled.

Maybe

Weight_gain
Abdominal swelling can be normal up to 4-6 weeks after surgery due to the inflammation and healing from the inside where surgery was done as well as because of the incision healing. Just make sure the wound looks ok and is not swollen because of an infection, where it will be red, very tender and may even have drainage. If this is the case, then you should see your surgeon.

Could be adhesions

Ovary
It is always a possibili when surgery has been done. If you are still having some issues, your should see your physician. There are other causes of pain, especially in the lower left part of the abdomen.
