I was switched from 150mg Effexor to 50mg valdoxan directly 4 weeks ago. I now notice irritability and anger. Is this withdrawal or depression?
hard to say but...: Effexor is notorious for causing bad withdrawal symptoms of which irritability could be one. You might suspect depression if other symptoms of depression are present such as loss of interest in pleausurable activities, decreased appetite and energy, poor sleep, guilty feelings, poor concentration. Definitely talk with your health care provider. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
The term "irritability" is used for infants and young children who, when ill, are especially fussy, whiny, and fretful, despite attempts at comforting and soothing them. Irritability can be a very early sign of serious problems. Although irritability is not a symptom of any specific illness, it should arouse suspicion in the parent that something might be wrong with the child, even though there may not ...Read more

It sounds like you will need something else besides clonazepam. you need to address this with your doctor who will adjust your medication or add something more. It is not possible to give a tentative diagnosis at this time, but it sounds as though you need more attention ...Read more

I have Major Depression & for the last 3 weeks I've been feeling extremely irritable and angry. Do I have a risk in turning into Bipolar?
Does it sound like i'm suffering from bipolar disorder (manic depression)? I often have sudden, and random shifts in my mood. Sometimes i'm fine, sometimes i'm absolutely irritable and just angry at the world. Then there are times that I am so ridiculousl
Hello, : Hello, dr. Kardener made good points. I don't know if you have bipolar disorder. Your symptoms could be consistent with bipolar disorder but borderline personality disorder or unipolar agitated depression can present similarly. The recommendation for a mood stabilizer is spot on. I agree with a referral to a psychiatrist if you are not already seeing one. Unless you see a psychiatrist who also does therapy; would recommend that you also work with a therapist. With the right treatment, would anticipate that you will start seeing improvment. If you are seriously contemplating suicide please get help right away. Having a plan or urges to follow through on it should definately prompt immediate care. Take care and don't give up hope. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Although still a mystery, this might be due to hormonal imbalance, accumulation of stress during he day, difficulty seeing as well at night, and other plausible reasons. Your symptoms may be similarly related but unlikely related to a dementia such as alzheimer's. But consider seeing your doctor for evaluation and referral. ...Read more
