Very prominent bony nasal bridge after septoplasty and turbinate reduction. Not noticeable before. Why?
Have a deviated nasal septum, don't want surgery.Been causing post nasal drip & bad breath for years, taking nasal spray & antihistamine. Not helping.
Reconsider : A deviated nasal septum can cause a lot of problems. My patients who have the surgery almost all wish they had it done sooner. Get in to see an ENT (maybe get a second opinion). He/she can give you more information pertinent to your case. Bad breathe and nasal drip can be a sign of sinusitis and if so, often needs antibiotics. So, a visit to a good ENT will be worthwhile. ...Read moreSee 6 more doctor answers

Sinusitis : Surgery is sometimes needed... See a rhinologist (an ENT sub-specialist) to sort out your options. In my practice around 15% of patients with your symptoms ultimately require surgery. I saw a patient who had undergone 63 surgeries for polyps - aspirin! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Could enlarged nasal turbinates and deviated nasal septum cause sleep apnea? Had PNR and was told that sinuses are good. I don't snore.
Can nasonex (mometasone) nasal spray make you gain weight? I use it daily. 2 sprays in each nostril? I have chronic sinusitus.
The : The active ingredient in Nasonex nasal spray is mometasone which is the nasal steroid least absorbed into the blood stream. Also, when looking at the side effect profile of this medication, weight gain is not on the list. So it is very unlikely that Nasonex in a normal dose (such as what you are on) causes weight gain. Having deviated septum surg, turbinate reduc. , sinus balloon dilation. When should I stop taking otc nasal decongestants (benzedrex, etc.) ?
Nasal surgery : You should ask these questions to your surgeon as she/he may have particular preferences. Oral decongestants can be taken up to the day of surgery, if needed. ...Read more

No luck w/sprays/meds 4 nasal congestion/nosebleeds. RIght septal deviation on CT. Difficulty breathing/sleeping. options besides septoplasty?
Not necessarily.: Some frames work better than others with wide noses. Contacts can be used as well, as can refractive surgery. Discuss your options with an optometrist or ophthalmologist. Know the risks and benefits of all your choices and then decide. If surgery appears reasonable, get two opinions from both another eye surgeon and a non-surgeon eye specialist about it. Good luck! ...Read more

Nasal sprays: All nasal steroids take a few days to start working and need to build up a dose before they become fully effective. Nasal antihistamines are quicker in onset of actiion.
