Try neti pot: Variety of preparations can be used to alleviate afrin (oxymetazoline) rebound effects ("runny nose, " congestion), but it may be individual; it is important to know why afrin (oxymetazoline) was initially started, and treat the underlying condition, too. In general, it may take a while to improve; may be worth talking to your doctor about. Overall, neti pot may help: www.Fammed.Wisc.Edu/research/past-projects/nasal-irrigation. ...Read more
Can one become addicted or dependant upon zyrtec (cetirizine)? Can zyrtec (cetirizine) lose its efficacy with prolonged use? Thanks!
Starting Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) (adhd) but on Risperdal (agitation). Won't the D2 antagonistic effect of Risperdal mitigate the action of the amphetamine?
Med interactions: Risperdal and Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) may be taken together with no significant interactions. That said, if you are taking Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) and think it is less effective, discuss with prescribing doctor who knows you best. I hope this helps. Best wishes. ...Read more
Trying to stop using alcohol to control sudden anxiety from adhd. On Adderall for 3 years with success. Xanax (alprazolam) or Valium option. Pls no addicton respon?
Alcohol wrong answer: Alcohol is short-acting, causes physical dependence, which means larger and larger doses are required over time, and is toxic. Benzos may have some of the same issues, although less organ toxicity. If you have been prescribed stimulants for your ADHD, the increased anxiety may be side effect from those, and lower doses or different med may help.Antidepressants have good anxiety effects, fewer SEs ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I'm prescribe 110 mg of methadose daily for oxycodone addiction and on top of the methadose he prescribed 2 mg of clonazepam is this ok ???
May cause dizziness: It might combine to leave you drowsy or dizzy or confused. If you avoid dangerous activities (driving) it may not be too bad but definitely ask the Dr 'why'? Also, ask about safer alternatives and good instructions on what to watch for and what to do if there's a problem. Don't drink alcohol! ...Read more
No: it contains, obviously, codeine which will show up as an opiate (and is also metabolized into morphine). It also contains a barbiturate, bultalbital, which will also show up as positive. I would worry more about using drugs when you are subject to drug testing, and the level of severity of your drug problem, as you do about getting caught. ...Read more
I'm currently on 18mgs of suboxone. I was wondering how bad the withdrawal from suboxone is? Compared to methadone or opiate withdrawal?
Opiate withdrawal: If you’re considering discontinuing suboxone, you’ll need to taper it. Withdrawal can include nausea, muscle cramps, anxiety, depression, diarrhea, insomnia, etc. Opiate withdrawals are generally similar in their predictable effects. Suboxone withdrawal is treatable by tapering the medication. Please discuss a taper regimen with your prescriber if this is what you wish to do. Good luck! ...Read more
Can I switch from Xanax (alprazolam) to klonapine safely? I'm on 1.5 mg of xanax (alprazolam). I heard its safer for long term use.
Yes: Yes, it is possible to make this type of switch. It would be best to work with a psychiatrist who has experience in making these types of changes. It appears that you already know that you need to be careful in trying to decrease or stop xanax (alprazolam). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I took Sudafed, Flonase and Afrin (oxymetazoline) but getting no relief for allergy congestion, can I take Claritin on top of the other meds?
Afrin (oxymetazoline)?: You need to see an expert to determine the cause of the congestion and confirm that it is related to allergy. If you have been taking Afrin (oxymetazoline) for more than 5 days consecutively, then the persistent congestion is most likely now caused by the Afrin (oxymetazoline) (it causes sensitization and "rebound congestion"). Claritin can be added safely, but it may not be effective if underlying issue not addressed ...Read more
What are the long term effects on the body of Zoloft & Xanax (alprazolam) use for my anxiety & panic disorder?
Can you take 180mg of antihistamine and a nasal spray such as Flonase while on 25mg of zoloft (sertraline)?
Drug interactions : Since zoloft (sertraline) can be sedating at times - i would make sure that the antihistamine you use would be non sedating such as Allegra or Claritin - please consult a doctor to make sure about drug interactions but generally Flonase should be ok with zoloft (sertraline). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Runs against them: Using both alcohol and antidepressants together runs the risk of intoxication and sedation -- more than expected with either alone. Also in the long run, alcohol is a depressant, and disrupts sleep cycle. Your antidepressant will be fighting this, in a sense. Alcohol may give the temporary illusion of improved mood, but repeated binges can also dysregulate -- rather than even out -- your mood. ...Read more
