Depakote->racing tht: It soundly like you've been diagnosed with anxiety and take Clonazepam and propranolol. It sounds like these should cover your anxiety. Given that you were only on it one 1 month, it does not seem it was likely the cause of your current racing thoughts. I'd schedule a follow up with your doc ASAP to determine what IS causing your racing thoughts and get these treated :) ...Read more

Depakote in the past was the only medication that worked for my depression. I had to stop from extreme rapid weight gain. Why did it work so well?
I hope this is good: News. Some believe benefits obtained from placebo effects are being fooled - a sign of weakness. My research tried to show that it is a very big part of all effective treatment - it's possible that your positive response was due to surrounding things. Perhaps your doctor was caring, intelligent and made you feel hopeful. That works! mostly that drug fights mania. Who knows why it worked for you? ...Read more

Seizures caused from depleation of good sodium in my body. Caused from over medication of drug soma. Went into hospital, they brought sodium levels up through i.V's. Taking Depakote 500 mg. 1x per day to avoid seizures. Suggest support groups, effects on
It is probably true than anyone can have a seizure under the right conditions. These conditions include poisoning by prescription or recreational drugs, withdrawal from prescription or recreational drugs (including alcohol), brain injuries, general illnesses, and abnormal levels of blood salts (electrolytes -- including sodium). When people have seizures with provocation, they are not considered to have epilepsy, and usually don't require long term seizure medication.
People who have a tendency to have repeated seizures with little or no provocation have epilepsy. The diagnosis is made by history, and supported by results from tests like brain-wave recordings (eegs) and brain imaging (usually mri). Epilepsy usually does require long-term use of seizure medications like depakote, or other interventions like epilepsy surgery.
Taking Depakote for a provoked seizure is an unusual clinical approach. Depakote can be given for other reasons. Since Depakote use can be accompanied by serious short term and long term side effects, it is important to see a doctor to develop a better understanding for its use in specific cases. ...Read more

No single best: There is no single best medication- different things work for different people. However, i would advise not relying only on medication. Even bad anxiety can respond to counseling (like cognitive behavioral therapy), meditation, exercise, emotional freedom technique, homeopathy, supplements like magnesium, b complex, l-theanine & 5-htp & herbs like holy basil & ashwagandha. Consult a holistic doc! ...Read more
