Hi, what are the antiviral drug for dengue virus spesifically the rna-dependant RNA polymerase as the potential target? Thanks
None yet: Dengue fever and its severe form, dengue hemorrhagic fever, have no cure nor vaccine. One path of research is to find a way to use nucleoside analogs to block the viral rna-dependent RNA polymerase (coded by ns5), which copies the viral genetic material. So far, no drug has been approved yet. Not sure if anyone has found and submitted such a drug to the fda (food and drug administration). ...Read more

Hello doc .my husband is dengue igg positive and negative for igm and ns1 ...theory state that igg has a recent onset and will persist for life?
No: Au contraire, IgG indicates past exposure and usually indicates the presence of some protection against that organism. And yes it may last forever albeit may decline in level over time. IgM on the other hand indicated an active infection. Don't worry, be happy. If your husband is sleepy and does not happen to be one of Snow White's dwarves, it is not from Dengue. ...Read more

After i got dengue i had liver inflammation .....Is it due to the virus or other reasons...... Thank you.....
No way to tell: However, i'm concerned about your history -- 14 drinks of alcohol per day is, in my opinion, too much for anybody. And you've continued despite knowing you have liver trouble. I think most folks here will agree you should cut back or stop. It's no wonder your liver is inflamed. Please get re-tested after you stop the alcohol and if still inflamed, get hepatitis, iron overload and more testing. ...Read more
What does this hav result mean hav-igm is non reactive while hav -igg to hepatitis a virus is reactive?
In 4 months period My HSV IgG has increased from 2.77 to 5.38 and IgM is .11 does that mean virus is gaining power and going to ruin my health.
NO: It simply means that your titer was higher the one time compared to the other. You may have it checked in 6 months and it is back down again. The number is not as important as positive or Negative with IGG, which simply means you had a history of HSV . The IGM would signify active infection. Your Health will not be ruined. Best wishes. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
