Mild pneumonia (seen on film). Dr. rx'd Cedinifir 2 nites ago. Just starting dry cough. No fever. Should I get expectorant? Delsym (dextromethorphan) = diarrhea.
Pulmonary infiltrate: Whether or not you have a pneumonia likely to respond to a cephalosporin antibiotic is very questionable and would need more info to say for sure, but an infiltrate with a dry cough sounds more like an atypical pneumonia and this is not likely to respond to the antibiotic you have been given. How long can I keep taking an expectorant (dextromethorphan) before i decide it is not working and need to see a doctor (can't afford one right now)?
Are there any herbal teas that act as good expectorants? I use benylin (dextromethorphan) but am wondering of a herbal method instead?

Depends....: If you have a cough due to an infection, as in acute bronchitis, then an expectorant would be recommended so you could cough out the infected sputum. If there is no infection present, like an allergy related cough, then a suppressant may be helpful.
