Can i get a pap smear test done a day after my period is done?

Can i get a pap smear test done a day after my period is done?

Yes: Yes, you can have a pap smear done at that time. I would recommend that you have a liquid based pap test and not a conventional pap smear at that time of your cycle because it allows us to remove any remaining excess blood and make sure the cells are preserved well for the best detection of any possible abnormal cells. ...Read more

8 months pp, my period this month is a dark brown with some bleeding. I had a pap smear earlier this month and everything was good. Why is that?

Breastfeeding?: If you are breastfeeding than periods can be irregular like this. If you stopped breastfeeding and having normal periods up until now, this can still be normal. Likely due to hormonal changes. Pap smears are screenings for cervical cancer. And bleeding is almost always coming from inside your uterus. Sometimes, but rarely, they are the same. Keep an eye on your bleeding and call md if worried. ...Read more

The last period I had came the day after a Pap smear. It was a week early, short but heavy. Now all my ovulation tests are coming back negative?

The last period I had came the day after a Pap smear. It was a week early, short but heavy. Now all my ovulation tests are coming back negative?

Nothing Wrong: The Pap likely had nothing to do with this; most likely, your 'corpus luteal cyst' failed, and your period is early. This small cyst is normal, every cycle, and is where the ovum/egg was growing, preparing for ovulation. Could have been a blighted ovum in the first place. You'll have to wait for next month! ...Read more

My last period ended June 6 and i am yet to see it. I did a pap smear June 22. i have never missed a period it is always on time what can be wrong?

Irregular periods: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections & hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do a home pregnancy test . There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit. ...Read more

Hi. I''ve recently had a pap smear on Monday. I started my period Wednesday. But for some reason it is extremely heavy. (I've never experienced this) I woke up three times in the night to change because it was so heavy. Is this normal?

Unrelated: A PAP test should not cause heavy bleeding. It would be prudent for you to take oral iron supplement and multivitamin to prevent iron deficiency and anemia due to excessive blood loss. It this pattern persists for more than two periods, it would be time to see your doctor. ...Read more

What happens if you get pap smear and you just started your period?

What happens if you get pap smear and you just started your period?

Not ideal: Ideally, pap tests should be done while a woman is not on her period as blood can interfere with the reading especially if you are bleeding heavily. With that said, a little blood is usually fine and usually will not affect the results. ...Read more

Can being on your period affect your pap smear results?

Can being on your period affect your pap smear results?

Please tell me, could a pap smear cause a light period?

Not a period...: But a pap smear can cause a small amount of bleeding. A brush and wooden 'spatula' are used to obtain cells from the cervix and os (the opening in the cervix to the uterus). 'scraping' this area for cells can cause some irritation and minor bleeding for a couple of days. ...Read more

Is it normal to see endometrial tissue on a pap smear right after period ends?

Is it normal to see endometrial tissue on a pap smear right after period ends?

it is normal, howeve: Exfoliated endometrial cells are commonly seen in specimens, obtained during the proliferative phase of the menstrual cycle. However, endometrial cells have been considered a potential harbinger of endometrial adenocarcinoma when seen in cervical/vaginal cytology preparations of postmenopausal woman.
