They say I have delayed bone growth does that mean my skull will get bigger aswell? My head is kinda small its 55-56 CM and im supposed to grow taller

Not much: The majority of head growth is finished by age 9 although the bones forming the skull do not completely fuse for many years thereafter. Most males finish their linear growth by 17-18 but an xray of your wrist and hand can show how much more growth to expect. The size of your cranium does not reflect what you can do with it.A portion of the normal population will have both small or oversized heads. ...Read more

My son has cerebal palsy and speech delay he smashing his head in frustation or when can't get his own way would this make his CP worse ?

My son has cerebal palsy and speech delay he smashing his head in frustation or when can't get his own way would this make his CP worse ?

Unlikely: Head banging is not limited to CP kids.In a way it is just an amplification of the early infant fussing.I've never heard or seen a head banger with a real head injury. This likely caught on when he noticed it grabbed your attention. If you ignore it(don't lock eyes), watching him out of peripheral vision, for safety, it should fade over time.Teaching some sign language may help with the frustration. ...Read more

What is the best treatment for delayed closure of anterior fontanel soft spot?

Patience: Most kids will have what feels to be closure of the anterior fontanel by 15-18 mo but some may persist. The separation between the bones will persist to some degree until about 9 when kids reach their adult head size. In examining thousands of kids over 3 decades, i never found one that didn't eventually close. ...Read more

What chemicals are used in head lice treatments?

What chemicals are used in head lice treatments?

Incecticides: Permethrin or Malathion are the most common. They are insecticides with relatively low toxicity to humans compared with other insecticides. They are diluted as much as possible to remain effective against lice and mites, but decrease toxicity to us, compounded as lotions or shampoos, and used as medicines. Only use the prescribed form on hair or skin, never the full strength forms. ...Read more

Eight month old fell and hit his head. How do I prevent any injury?

Watch closely: If the child did not lose consciousness, in all likelihood he or she will not have had a serious brain or skull injury. However, if the child shows any irritability, vomiting, excessive sleepiness, or any other change in behavior, seek medical attention immediately. If there was any loss of consciousness, even briefly, you should seek medical attention immediately. ...Read more

My baby is 4 months. Can she start using a walker/bouncer? She has good head control and can sit supported.

My baby is 4 months. Can she start using a walker/bouncer? She has good head control and can sit supported.

When able to sit up: Walkers and jumpers do not help a baby learn to walk. Walkers and jumpers are ok to use under adult supervision, and for less than 30-60 minutes at one time. They are not for keeping a toddler in, without supervision. Dangers include crashing into furniture corners, flipping over, falling down stairs, and sliding through the seat (possibly getting tangled up and possibly getting choked). ...Read more

3 month old, good head control, trys to stand on his legs when i try to put him down, can I let him stand with support or should I keep stopping him?

Prop reflex: A 3 mo will extend his/her legs to prop as a standard reflex, it is not an effort to stand. This reflex disappears between 6-9 mo as kids nervous system prepares for voluntary standing. You will not make him bow legged by doing this, but it is more a parlor trick at this age than anything. There are more appropriate things to do with a 3 mo. ...Read more

It's ok.: You just have to be careful and supervise. Why don't you go to the internet and check out the video "Tummy Time: Why and How to Do It" , sponsored by Tommee Tippee. It's a very nice video. And you will see that some of the babies in the video aren't too thrilled with, and struggle with tummy time too! ...Read more

I have a habit of mastrubating on a daily basis. I tried but can't control myself. Because of this i face delayed ejaculation while sex.

Depends: As you know, for centuries, masturbation was considered a very bad habit. This harsh view has changed, and it is generally viewed as harmless. Yet, it is also true that some people become habituated to it more than is ideal. How can you tell? If it interferes with your relationship.. This may happen more readily if it is associated with pornography. If this is so for you, speak to someone. ...Read more

Mgt: Premature infants may have delayed speech, and her hearing should be evaluated by your PCP. Her growth parameters appear within range, and should be followed along with her ht, wt, and BMI in the future. Premature infants may be prone to respiratory problems, and I would advise maximizing her nutritional status which improves lung growth as well. ...Read more

Development delay in ny 3 mo baby, she can't hold her head up what to do i'm so worried?

Reply: Most of the 3 months old may still have a head lag or in other words still not able to hold their head up. That should not worry you. Different babies have different timing to develop age expected milestones, put her on her tummy and see if he tries to lift her head up, also lying on her back if she tries to raise her head up 45 degrees or not. Best to discuss with your doctor who can assess her. ...Read more
