Decongestant For Ear Pressure
Pressure in the middle ear is ideally equal to environmental pressure. It is corrected by the eustachian tube, which connects from the middle ear to the back of nose. The popping that occurs when one goes in an airplane is the eustachian tube opening to equalize ear pressure. When pressures differ, the ear drum can be sucked in or bulge out. With this fluid can accumulate ...Read more

Coconut oil safe to use in ear daily for ear pressure? Pain/water behind eardrum currently on antibiotics but ear pressure remains.
Yes, safe but...: Yes, coconut oil is safe to use but unlikely to help this much. It does have some antimicrobial properties but ear pressure is most likely related to allergies & inflammation around the eustachian tube. Antibiotics may not help much either. Avoiding dairy & wheat may help as well as treating allergies. Consider homeopathy & seeing a cranial osteopath. ...Read more
Ear pain/pressure/dizzy x 5weeks. Ent gave ear drops (eardrums slight inflamed)/abx. No relief. Suggestions? Thanks
Try decongestant: Your symptoms may be due to eustachian tube dysfunction, where the tubes that connect the middle ear to the back of the throat are blocked so pressure builds up in the middle ear. Decongestants like sudafed can help relieve the symptoms (as long as there is no reason you can't take decongestants such as uncontrolled high blood pressure). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Deeply clogged sinuses, left ear pressure for 5 days. Used OTC sudafed and mucinex (guaifenesin) and Afrin, nothing is loosening mucous, no fever no swelling?

Drink lots of fluids, which will thin out your mucus and may help prevent your sinuses from getting blocked up. Use a nasal saline spray – simple unmedicated salt water – to help prevent your nasal passages from drying out. ...Read more

In still developing ears, as in children, the fluid build up could cause enough pressure to cause the ear drum to rupture. The inflammation has impeded the ability of the fluid to drain. It is important to begin treatment before it gets to the chronic stage. ...Read more
Lightheaded, headaches; sinus pressure. Ears feel blocked and sometimes ache. Nasal congestion like the airways are narrowing for 2 months. Sinusitis?
Good guess: I agree with you. You should quit smoking NOW otherwise improving your sinusitis will be VERY DIFFICULT. You should be under the care of your primary care and/or ENT physician. If you continue to smoke you are letting your self in for a very uncomfortable future with worse headaches and running into possible ear nose & throat cancer. ...Read more

Can a myringotomy worsen existing tinnitus (cause unknown)? Myringotomy to alleviate excruciating ear pressure
2 questions: Myringotomy can not have an effect on tinnitus unless you have middle ear fluid. Tinnitus is now considered a central (brain synchronicity problem). The pressure question again can only answered by the middle ear being full of thick fluid causing pressure and hearing loss. Middle ear fluid rarely causes excruciating ear pressure unless you have pus under pressure. You need accurate diagnosis. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
