Decidual Bleeding Vs Period
By pregnancy test: Decidual bleeding occurs in pregnant people. You can take a pregnancy test. If negative then it is not decidual bleeding
Same answer: Implantation bleeding/decidual is not really as common as the internet would have you believe. When it does happen it's usually 6-12 days after ovulation and exclusively in pregnant women. A pregnancy test 7-10 days after unprotected intercourse is much more helpful to determine the cause. If the test is negative then it's just a period
If pregnant: Decidual bleeding occurs exclusively in pregnant women. You could check a pregnancy test at home. If it is negative then this is not decimal bleeding.
How common is decidual bleeding (percentage wise)? How common is a negative hpt test 3 weeks after period?
High ; common: Decidual bleeding can be lumped together with implantation bleeding and we can call them both "first trimester bleeding". I'd estimate 20-30% of women have some type of first trimester bleeding, and many go on to have normal pregnancies. We usually discourage pregnancy tests until the period is due/late because they are often negative until 2 weeks after conception (or 4 wks after the last period).
Got my period since Nov 12, seems normal and today is the last day, can this be decidual bleeding? Feeling lightheadedness
No: You have a normal period. If you are light headed, please get checked. Maybe you are anemic. Drink lots of water. See a doctor.
On bc, got period day early and very light. Having unprotected sex, negative hpt. What would decidual bleeding look like?
Yes: As the name indicates, it is bleeding from the Decidua which is the epithelial tissue of the endometrium or the innermost lining of the uterus. The Decidua is usually lost during each period of menstruation. It is characterized by odd, fibrous blood clots that is released from the uterus. Decidual Bleeding is one of the most common causes of “menstruation-like” bleeding during pregnancy.
If I experienced decidual bleeding, how long after the bleeding has stopped would I get an accurate result on a hpt?
Accuracy is ok: The accuracy of an HCG pregnancy test should not be changed whether a woman is bleeding or not bleeding. That means if her level is 25, a urine test that shows "+" at a level of 25 should correctly show "+", regardless of whether or not she has vaginal bleeding, nose bleeding, or any other kind of bleeding.
If I experienced decidual bleeding for three days, how long should I wait to take a hpt for the most accurate results?
1 week late: They become positive at bout the time you're 1 week late.
First-trimester: It varies with how you define it. Decidual bleeding has no real definition, most physicians simply refer to first-trimester bleeding. This presumes the woman is pregnant. Light bleeding in the first trimester is very common, spotting may be more than 50%, heavier persistent bleeding is less common and more worrisome. Hope this helps.
Just blood: Decidual bleeding is a popular concept on the internet but not something obgyns talk about much. Decidual bleeding is simply bleeding during pregnancy. It will look like blood. Any bleeding during pregnancy should be evaluated by your doctor.
Anytime, but: You need to know "decidual bleeding" is not a well-defined medical term; it is found in older textbooks, and used online by non-professionals to refer to any bleeding early in pregnancy. So that said, you could see "decidual bleeding" almost anytime.
How would you differentiate between decidual bleeding and menustral bleeding? How likely is this to interfere with hpt results?
Implantation bleed: Implantation bleeding is much more common on the internet than in real life. It occurs rarely and exclusively in someone who is pregnant. The only way to know if someone had implantation bleeding or just irregular menstrual bleeding is to wait and see if you are pregnant. If your test is positive then this was implantation bleeding. If it is negative then it is just irregular menstrual bleeding.
Yes: That type of bleeding tends to increase with age.
Spotting: I assume you are talking about bleeding associated with implantation. Typically, this is very light and transient without associated pain.
No: If someone haas decidual bleeding then by definition they are pregnant. The pregnancy test would be positive. If the pregnancy test is negative then the bleeding is not decidual bleeding.
A pregnancy issue: Decidual bleeding is the name for vaginal bleeding/spotting during pregnancy that may occur around the time that a pregnant woman would otherwise expect her menstrual period. The phenomenon is fairly rare and usually does not last longer than the first few months of pregnancy. It is thought to be related to shedding some of the uterine lining outside of the placental area with hormone fluctuation.
