Yes: A healthy 17 yo should be able to run 3 miles. Run at least every other day. Increase the distance by 1/ 2 mile every 2 or 3 runs. When you increase to a mile don't expect to run at the same pace you run 1/2 mile- slow and steady is the way to go. As you get used to longer distances then you can gradually pick up the pace. Cold turkey from: Tobacco is do-able, at least from the point of view of your safety and the unborn child's. However, nicotine replacement therapy would be the best thing. I recommend a 14 mg patch to start, try for 3 weeks, then a 7 mg patch daily for 3 weeks and then use gum or lozenges only if you feel craving (2mg). A few weeks: You may start light exercise in 1-2 weeks. You may gradually increase activities over the next 4-6 weeks. To reach full activities it may take about 2-3 months. However other factors need to be taken into consideration such as reconstruction, any untoward complication and if there is any need for chemotherapy. Trick Question: I know your question if probably serious but it is a set up for a snappy comeback.... It would really be hard to breastfeed while running. But seriously if you are motivated to run you should be able to. If you could time your feeding before the race so that you are not too engorged, and wear a well supporting bra and make sure to hydrate well before during and after the run, you sould be ok. ...Read more
