Ace levels high, liver enzymes high, possible sarcoidosis dx, can sarcoidosis cause fatty liver on ultrasound. Dr scheduling liver& lymph biopsy.

Sarcoidosis - Liver: The most common radiographic finding of hepatic sarcoidosis is hepatomegaly. Ultrasound can show diffuse increased homogeneous or heterogeneous echogenicity in hepatic sarcoidosis appearing similar to fatty liver. Focal liver nodules (thought to represent coalescence of small granulomas) can also be seen in hepatic sarcoidosis. Liver involvement by sarcoidosis typically responds well to steroids. ...Read more

Ct scan tell difference between mild fatty liver infiltration vs cirrhosis? Alt 142 AST 77

Depends....: Classic definition of fatty infiltration of the liver (ie, hepatosteatosis) is a 10 hounsfield difference of attenuation between liver and spleen on an unenhanced ct. Secondary sequela of cirrhosis can be demonstrated on a ct such as macrolobulated border and nodule formation as well as sequela of portal hypertension. However, fatty liver and cirrhosis can co-exist and a biopsy can differentiate. ...Read more

What does 'in homogeneous increased hepatic echogenicity seen w/ fatty infiltration as well as hepatocellular disease' mean about my liver?

What does 'in homogeneous increased hepatic echogenicity seen w/ fatty infiltration as well as hepatocellular disease' mean about my liver?

Ask your doctor: Doctor who ordered the test should answer your questions. Other tests and past/present medical conditions affect the answer. You are at risk to develop cirrhosis of the liver. Your current condition may be reversible. Cirrhosis is not. In America, 2 most common causes is food and drink. If food and drink is not the primary cause, it does influence whether you live or die. Better diet helps a lot. ...Read more

Mild diffuse fatty infiltration of liver ALT 142 AST 77 low function gallbladder bilirubin fluctuates can this mean cirrhosis or coild it b from gb?

Separate problems: Fatty liver, a health risk, associated with elevated liver enzymes. It's treatable with weight loss n monitoring. Low function gallbladder typically means no gallstones, but irritated gallbladder. This can be managed, (not cured) with low fat diet, extra hydration and monitoring. Cirrhosis, permanent damage to liver, usually from toxins like alcohol. Stay with your doc, a low fat diet and be well. ...Read more

Mild diffuse infiltration fatty liver and low function gallbladder protein 8.4 bilirubin total 2.0 1.76 and diect 0.27 is this due to fatty liver?

Probably not: With the majority of your bilirubin being indirect, i.e. Unconjugated, you probably have gilbert's syndrome, which is the most common hereditary cause of increased bilirubin and is found in 5-10% of the population and is due to the reduced activity of the enzyme glucuronyltransferase. Bilirubin levels may increase under conditions of exertion, stress, fasting, and infections but is benign. ...Read more

Hard to say,,: It looks like, from your history, that you've had a great deal of issues. Your gallbladder being removed may have, at least in part, been due to gallstones which would explain a lot of the bile duct situation. Gastric bypass also has complications. But your liver also has something going on now that you need to see your doctor soon to find the cause and treat before it gets worse. Good luck. ...Read more
