Surgical biopsy: Most Dermatologist realize skin creams and bleaches from caustic Chemicals are not good for the skin or your health. If it is small, circular, and looks the same year after year, leaving it alone & wearing sunscreen is your best bet. ...Read more
I have itching on the sides of my abdomen only and then hyperpigmentation occurs as dark spots in the same area. Why is this happening?
Sometimes scratching: Itchy spots results in that area becoming hyper pigmented...a persistent stimulation of skin cells. It is called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Other causes could be a fungal problem called tinea versicolor. Acanthosis nigracans is a hyper pigmentation problem but tends to occur in skin folds. What type of anti-aging treatments are available for hyperpigmentation? I am in my mid-fifties and I started noticing dark age spots on my cheeks and nose a few years ago. They are really starting to bother me. What kind of anti-aging treatments are avail
Depends on spots: What we term "age spots" include seborrheic keratoses (thick brown bump) and lentigoes (flat brown patch). Both are hereditary and we tend to develop more with time. They can be treated with liquid nitrogen (freezing), lasers, ipl, chemical peels, etc. Treatment choice largely depends on the number of spot and how thick they are. If they are flat sun spots, one can start with a bleaching cream. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Any products you would recommenfd to use on not so severe hyperpigmentation and freckles or age spots that just won't go away?
Hydroquinone (HQ) +: I find otc hydroquinone based products generally ineffective. Prescription based hq products such as triluma can be effective in many cases of hyperpigmentation. If the hyperpigmentation is due to a deep form of melasma, however, even triluma may not be enough. In difficult cases, proven chemical peels along with rx hq based products and daily sunblock can work for many patients-see your derm md. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

No need for this:
You don't likely need lightening agents for for post-acne lesions. They should fade over time as long as you as using a good moisturizer and sun block, like Purpose Lotion. Scarring may indeed be part of your problem; if so, see a dermatologist.
