Have scalp dermatitis in ear; outer ear canal transient numbness/"sensations"1-2 x/day/1-2 minTreatment?

Ear dermatitis /numb: Is it just dermatitis (eczema) or psoriasis? and though not the usual rash make sure with numbness it is not lyme disease. Sometimes get scalp dermatitis from food allergies, so may do elimination diet off dairy x 14 days then off gluten x 14 and see if a difference. Would follow up with dermatologist

Itchy ears,: Commonest is from dry canal skin, like dandruff, either from lack of wax, psoriasis, shampoo settling and drying in your canal, avoiding Q tips, not letting in soap or shampoo, cover the ears when having your hair done, and, seek help, in way of ear drops,

Maybe reoccurrence: Sometimes growths do reoccur. Have your ENT doctor take a look and see if it is a similar mass, similar location etc.

Don't worry: It sounds like you have a small cyst. Do no worry but try applying some warm compresses to it. Put warm water on a washcloth and hold it to your ear a couple times a day. It should resolve on its own in a week or two. If it does not, or if it enlarges see your doctor for further evaluation.

See derm: After having symptoms and this condition for several years, it is time to get the area assessed and treated. Best wishes.

Resolved painful swelling of outer ear canal (from swimming) w drops, oral antibi & steroids, still have fluid in middle ear. Can decongestants help?

Resolved painful swelling of outer ear canal (from swimming) w drops, oral antibi & steroids, still have fluid in middle ear. Can decongestants help?

Slowly: Decongestants are appropriate, alone or with new generation antihistamines. However, nothing helps dramatically and it can take some time to fully recover. Smoking is a direct negative factor by irritating the throat opening of eustachian tube. Increased fluids are also appropriate. There are adults, very infrequently, with tubes when problem persists with nothing helping.

Dermatitis: Probably a dermatitis of the ear canal skin. Usually this is aggravated by your using q-tips or otherwise trying to clean your ears. Try some over the counter 1% Hydrocortisone cream in the ear applied with a clean finger 4 times a day. Stay away from cleaning your ears as a rule.

Ear: Hard to tell from the story but sounds like an outer ear infection or swimmers ear. If so DO NOT flush it. Keep it dry when showering, don't swim, use the drops and see an ENT to make sure there's no wax and to clean it

I currently have some kind of outer ear infection. All my jaw and my ear bones are very painful. Also inflamated ear canal. I took ibuprohene but not helpful. Was wondering if 1mg dilaudid for pain and cyprofloxacin or corticosteroid drop would help?

Hard to say: It is clear you have made some assumptions about what is going on. Without a proper exam, it is hard to consider using a prescription at all, much less a controlled drug that might hide important symptoms. Drops only work in some ear conditions, not most. It is time to go to urgent care and have someone find out what is going on.

Why might someone involuntarily gag when they touch their external ear canal?

Why might someone involuntarily gag when they touch their external ear canal?

Normal: This is a normal reflex that may cause a person to cough when the inside of their ear canal is touched. There is a nerve called Jacob's nerve that is a nerve of sensation to both the ear canal and base of tongue/throat - the referred sensation is strong enough to create a cough reflex.

Dermatology: Hard to tell you on the internet without having a picture of it. I would have it further evaluated by a dermatologist and determine if it is benign or if it should be excised/biopsied.

Small bump at the beginning of my external ear canal. Feels like a regular bump. Feels like there is some small bone there that is bigger on that side?

Tricky: Cannot say in your particular case, but some things that can be there are lymph nodes and cysts (they are painless and do not grow over time).
