Dark Green Loose Stool
I've had dark green loose stool off and on for about 24 hours. Is that something serious? If not what are some home remedies?
Green stool: Any conditions which cause the stool to transit too rapidly through the intestines can lead to green, moist stool. On the other hand eating green leafy vegetables can lead to green stool. Green cabbage, lettuce, peas, cabbage, spinach, broccoli, green salad, green leaves, celery ; green beans as well as food that contains green food coloring can lead to green stool. Some meds can change stool >.
Loose stools is a symptom in which a person's stool (poop) does not hold its shape after it goes into the toilet. Instead of remaining a shaped piece of poop, the poop spreads out in the toilet bowl water. Very loose stool is called diarrhea. Loose stool can be caused by infections, certain foods or drinks, ...Read more
Get seen: Bloody diarrhea can be serious. Get seen as soon as possible. Sometimes what appears to be blood, is not. Blood. If you ate a lot of beets for example. But "better safe than sorry." Get this checked out.
Hi I have reflux, gastritis, lots of gas and intestinal rumbling followed with dark green loose stool that's foul smelling. Is this ibs? If not help!?
Not irritable bowel: Reflux isn't IBS, gastitis is inflammation of the stomach. Foul-smelling stools sometimes mean gastroenteritis or malabsorption. Sounds like it is time for a GI specialist or at least a visit to your usual physician for stool studies if the problem continues and even a gluten sensitivity panel with a later GI referral. Irritable bowel synd is a diagnosis of exclusion, although real and painful.See 1 more doctor answer
What can cause dark green loose stools. I have been on my normal diet. No abdominal pain or fever?
Rapid transit: Our liver and gallbladder secretes a green substance called bile. It helps digest our food that contains fat/oils. This green fluid is partly responsible for the brown color of our stool. There may be instances where this green fluid either is not well absorbed in the distal small intestine (ileum) resulting in rapid transit through the intestines (especially the colon, where it may irritate).
My child is 2 and half yrs, she has fever, vomiting, rough cough and dark olive green loose stool, and stomach cramps. Wat could it be. Its been 5 days now?
Pediatrician: Time to visit pediatrician especially with fever. Need to determine the correct cause to give proper treatment.

Crippling stomach cramps, loose dark green stool with blood had it for just over a month but had blood for longer what's happening?
GI: Given that you have noticed blood for 2-3 months. I think going to a GI specialist is your best bet. As specified by another physician, IBD at your age is most likely, and for that an actual clinic visit and tests are required! Good luck and please send me a message with what you find!See 1 more doctor answer
Not necessarily.: An infection with giardia can present with diarrhea or constipation or neither. Stool color is not a reliable way to determine the organism responsible, if any. Only a test for parasites can do this, and it takes checking 3 stool samples, because the parasites may not be present in every stool. See your doctor and get tested.
Possibly diarrhea: You have have diarrhea. Also you should always be concerned for possible blood in the stool. See you primary care asap.
Green is bile: When your stool passes fast through the intestinal tract the green bile is the color you see in the stool, because the bile doesn't have time to get reabsorbed and give the darker colored stool you are used to. Yellow colored diarrhea is seen in even faster traveling stools. The darker the color, the slower the transit and greater reabsorption of bile.

On vanc. Now for c diff. 2nd day on it. Still loose stools. How long till improvement with stool? Also my stool is soft green look. Wipe its yellow
See below: The diarrhea usually improvs after 3-4 days of treatment but you need to complete the full 14 day treatment course. I would also recommend probiotic treatment with vsl#3 and florastor 1 capsule of each 2 time a day for 30 days. Note there is a 25% relase rate that necessitates retreatment.See 1 more doctor answer

I've been having consistent constipation of loose stool? It is generally a dark tan and gritty, sticky, mucousy, and I feel like I can't empty myself
I'm not sure..: ..what "constipation of loose stool" is? I presume you mean you have loose stool, but infrequently. Usually we think infrequent stool of constipation is hard and difficult to pass. The key is more fiber in your diet: whole grains, cereals, brown rice, veggies. This will solidify it. If this doesn't help, see your doc. Some testing for malabsorption may be in order. Continue good fluid intake.
I've been very bloated and gassy for days, nausea for 2 weeks and loose stools for about 3 days. Stools are now bright green. Is sometging going on?
GI: There are a multitude of diseases that could be causing your symptoms. Some of the more common include a viral/bacterial enteritis, gallbladder disease, inflammatory bowel disease or others. I would suggest you visit your primary care provider so they can begin by doing a diagnostic work-up as some of these diseases can be serious and require more than symptomatic treatment.
2yr old with cough, green loose stools and poor appetite x 2 days. Drinking OK. Virus? Wait it out or take him in?
If stable, wait: This presentation is almost always viral. So long as water intake is OK and your child doesn't become listless all should be well. I presume you know about the BRAT diet.
