Dark green diarrhea (based on stool color). Green when wiping with a few black spots. Black seen on TP only. Should I be concerned?

Black stools: The green color is nothing to worry about. It may be bile or something you have eaten. Truly black stools generally should be tested (very simple to do in the doctor's office) to be sure it is not due to old blood. This will probably clear up soon. If not, check with an urgent care facility. Best wishes. Read more

I've been taking colonclenz for 2 days maybe 3. I take 2 pills a day. This morning I had diarrhea which was very dark, maybe even black. Is this ok?

See MD: The GI tract moves food, , and eventual stool through the GI tract, so colon cleansing is not ordinarily needed nor should it be taken for any reason. Gi problems that prevent normal bowel movements need to be reported to md colon cleanse may contain laxatives that of course may cause diarrhea. Black stools may represent bleeding in the upper part of the GI tract, so report it to md. Read more

My daughter has no other symtoms and hasn't got diarrhea I am carefull what I give her and its been dark green for few months now?

I suspect I already: Answered, but I'll expand my answer. The color means nothing if she is otherwise healthy. It can reflect what she is eating, it can also be green from iron and vitamin supplements. When to see a doctor? If she has Un-expected weight loss, Indigestion, Diarrhea, Foul-smelling stools, Burning sensation in the rectum, Gas/flatulence, Mucous in stool. If she is otherwise healthy, growing, its ok. Oreo: Cookies should NOT color your stools!! "black stools" need to be investigated since may reflect GI bleeding EG: Bleeding in the CECUM may cause blackish stools ("old blood") In short, get it checked out!

I gave birth 1month ago, and had diarrhea almost every other day since. Why? Today it was a really dark green. Should I be worried?

That relationship: Is a bit difficult but stress and bowl habits can be related. With a newborn your sleep cycle is likely off and this may contribute. Consider more fiber in diet, bulky plant fiber or fibercon, but likely not directly related to delivery. Gd luck, get seen if not improving. Read more

Should I be worried about a sandy, dark brown (not black) sinking diarrhea with a lot of separate floating grease? I've also been extremely dizzy.

Should I be worried about a sandy, dark brown (not black) sinking diarrhea with a lot of separate floating grease? I've also been extremely dizzy.

Two things...: (1) This diarrhea, if acute, could represent an infection that requires investigation and/or treatment and (2) the dizziness suggests that you may be dehydrated because of the volume loss in the diarrhea. As such, I would certainly be concerned and would see a doctor in an ED or urgent care center today for an evaluation. Read more
