Dark Brown Mucus Discharge During Early Pregnancy
What does a dark brown discharge after a pelvic exam that later turned into a clear mucus discharge mean?
Bloody discharge: The pelvic exam, especially if it included a pap smear, may have caused a small amount of bleeding from the cervix which then appeared to be a short term brown discharge. The clear mucous discharge was probably normal "fertile mucous". The discharge you are describing is common after an exam and does not mean you have a problem.See 1 more doctor answer

What could explain a dark brown discharge that later turned into a clear mucus discharge following a pelvic exam?
Taking a pap smear: Scraping the surface of the cervix to take a pap smear sometimes causes a little spotting that you may see in the next few days as a brown discharge. The clear mucous discharge may be a return to normal, especially if you are midcycle and having "fertile mucous". I would not be concerned unless the brown discharge recurs or persists or develops an odor.
Period over 24 days late. Dark brown stringy mucous discharge & brown spotting for two days now 3 negative OTC pregnancy test no pregnacy symptoms?
See your doctor: If you had unprotected sex, not on a birth control and 24 days late, its advisable to see your doctor for proper evaluation/rule out of pregnancy. You can also use this visit to discuss with your doctor which birth control would be appropriate for you. Maybe/maybe not: If you had a complicated delivery or C/section with infection then there still may be some healing ongoing. However, the best course is to contact your OB MD and be examined to see if there is a problem or not.

I usually get midcycle mucus discharge but clear, this time I have it brownish like that just before the period. Is it normal and why brown?
Blood: Blood tinged mucus will appear brownish because it contains de-oxygenated blood. This frequently occurs around ovulation time (mid-cycle) and is not worrisome.
Old blood: Several possibilities: old blood from cyst or lining of uterus, infection, trauma or medications. Easy to solve: have your doc take a look.
No it is normal: No need to worry, for mucus discharge it is normal.

I'm having a brown mucus discharge while I'm suppose to be on my period. It started when I was suppose to get my period 4 days ago. What can this mean?
Brownish discharge: It is possible that your menses is slightly abnormal this month, and if this is the first time that this has happened I suggest waiting till next meses to see if it straighten out. If you didn't use contraception there is the possiblity that you've conceived, and i'd suggest a home pregnancy test.
I have had clear mucus discharge sometimes it's brown tinged I don't have a normal mentatrul cycle usual 45 days apart, is the mucus normal?
Yes.: Clear mucous discharge is normal. The discharge comes from mucous glands in the vaginal and vulvar areas. The brown tinge to the mucous might NOT be normal however. It's probably coming from the endometrium, the inner lining of the uterus. Since your periods are irregular, you might have an abnormal build-up of endometrium. Please make an appt. Is brown or yellow mucus discharge ever normal in first trimester....And what if it comes and goes away completely
Yellow yes: Normal colors for mucous are yellow, clear, white, grey, and green. All dependent on hydration and types of food eaten. Brown would make me think of old blood. Possibly from the cervix from intercourse or maybe placenta implantation. If it has gone away and there are no other symptoms, I would just watch and wait. It it continues and is associated with other symptoms, then fu with your ob.
