Dark Brown Discharge After Pelvic Exam
What does a dark brown discharge after a pelvic exam that later turned into a clear mucus discharge mean?
Bloody discharge: The pelvic exam, especially if it included a pap smear, may have caused a small amount of bleeding from the cervix which then appeared to be a short term brown discharge. The clear mucous discharge was probably normal "fertile mucous". The discharge you are describing is common after an exam and does not mean you have a problem. ...Read more

What could explain a dark brown discharge that later turned into a clear mucus discharge following a pelvic exam?
Taking a pap smear: Scraping the surface of the cervix to take a pap smear sometimes causes a little spotting that you may see in the next few days as a brown discharge. The clear mucous discharge may be a return to normal, especially if you are midcycle and having "fertile mucous". I would not be concerned unless the brown discharge recurs or persists or develops an odor. ...Read more
Complete hysterectomy at age 25. Age 51. Have dark brown discharge for over a month with no odor. Pelvic cramps, lower back ache and burning?
I have had a pelvic exam and was told I have white bumps on my cervix. Now I have yellowish discharge, pain in cervix and in my armpit.?

Itching at the opening of the vagina almost 1 month. Pelvic exam normal pap test and swab test normal no discharge no odor just itching. Any ideas??
Could potentially be: herpes, though I am not sure you are at risk for this. You can see your doctor to have the test performed since you are having symptoms (often itching/burning can occur). Other causes could include allergic irritation from any products you use around your vagina (maxi-pad, detergent from panties, etc). Hope this helps. ...Read more
I have doc's appt soon. If I say I have bloody discharge for a week, do I have to take pelvic exam? I don't want to. I'm on birth control pill.
Why: If you have bloody discharge, it may be from a disturbance of the internal female anatomy like uterine cancer. If you hide the truth from your doc, the potential outcome can be fatal. If you exclude the proper exams from the evaluation process, you do the same thing. If you want the best care possible, tell the truth and discuss the process of evaluation with your doc. He/she may not need to. ...Read more

Is the brown discharge I've experienced a concern? I've had random spikes of pain in my pelvis on the right or left side. I've had clear and white discharge but tonight I had brown. No odor
Pelvic: Pelvic pain is common especially mid-cycle (about 2 weeks after your period). The discharge may be normal but this depends on your age and time in your menstrual cycle. This could be an indication of midcycle bleeding which is not normal if you are nearing menopause (about age 50). If you are cycling normally, i'd inform your gynecologist, but they will most likely just want to keep watching to see if it happens again. ...Read more

29y/o F had hysterectomy 2.5 yrs ago, having bloody and brown discharge, pelvic pain the past two weeks. Went to dr, swab test neg. What is it?
When you say: "swab test" do you mean Pap? Do you know what type of hysterectomy you got? Was it "supracervical" ie was the cervix spared? Still have ovaries? If you still have a cervix & ovaries, you may also have a teeny bit of uterus capable of making an endometrium. Vaginal fissures or cervical changes deeper than the swab can reach are also possible. Consider transvaginal ultrasound for further info. ...Read more
What would be cause of constant deep pelvic pain, brown discharge and history of HPV in postmenopausal female?
See your doctor!:
This sounds like some sort of internal infection, probably not related to HPV. However, if you have not been having pap smears over the years, cervical cancer could cause such symptoms. Other cancers also are possible.
Whatever the cause of these symptoms, it is potentially serious. Please see your doctor as soon as you can get an appointment. ...Read more

Vaginal pH: The natural vaginal ph is acidic and so it is expected for its normal secretions to be sour.
